Acts 2:1-47
Now as them de celebrate the day of the Festival of Pentecost, all of them gather together for the same place.
At once, them hear one noise from heaven just like strong breeze wey de blow and e full the whole house where them sitdown.
And them see something wey be like fire and wey get the shape of tongue and e spread among them and one-one come stay ontop each of them,
and holy spirit full inside all of them and them start to speak different-different language,* just as the holy spirit give them power to speak.
That time, Jew people wey get deep respect for God and wey come from every nation under heaven de stay for Jerusalem.
So when them hear this sound, plenty people gather and them confuse because each person hear im own language as them de speak.
True-true, them really surprise and talk say: “See, all this people wey de talk here na Gal′i·lee people, no be so?
So, how e be say, each of us de hear im own language?
The people wey dey here come from Par′thi·a, Meʹdi·a, E′lam, Mes·o·po·ta′mi·a, Ju·de′a, Cap·pa·do′ci·a, Pon′tus and Asia,
Phryg′i·a and Pam·phyl′i·a, Egypt and the areas for Lib′y·a wey near Cy·re′ne, visitors from Rome, both Jew people and people wey don join Jew religion.
Some of them come from Crete and Arabia—we hear them as them de talk about the wonderful things of God for our own language.”
Yes, all of them surprise and confuse and de tell each other say: “Wetin this one mean?”
But other people de laugh them and talk say: “Them dey drunk with sweet wine.”*
But Peter stand up with the 11 apostles and talk to them with loud voice say: “People of Ju·de′a and all of una wey de stay for Jerusalem, make una know this one and make una listen well to wetin I de talk.
True-true, this people no dey drunk as una think, because this na the third hour of the day.*
Instead, this one na wetin God use prophet Joel talk:
‘God talk say, “And for the last days, I go pour out some of my spirit ontop every kind of person,* and una sons and una daughters go talk message from God and una young men go see visions and una old men go dream dreams,
and that time, I go even pour out some of my spirit ontop my men slaves and ontop my women slaves, and them go talk message from God.
And I go do wonderful things* for heaven and signs for earth—blood and fire and thick smoke.
The sun go turn to darkness and the moon go turn to blood before the great and special day of Jehovah go come.
And Jehovah go save everybody wey de call im name.”’
“People of Israel, make una hear this words: Jesus wey come from Nazʹa·reth na man wey God show una for public through miracles and wonderful things and signs wey God use-am do among una, just as una know.
This man wey them put for una hand because of wetin God don decide* and wetin God know before time, una use people wey no de obey law nail-am for pole, and una kill-am.
But God bring-am back to life as e free-am from the pain* of death because e no dey possible for death to hold-am.
Na this one make David talk about-am say: ‘I de put Jehovah for my front all the time, and because e dey my right hand, nothing go fit ever shake me.
Because of this one, my heart de sweet me and my mouth de talk with joy* no be small. And I* de live inside hope
because you no go leave me* for inside Grave,* and you no go allow person wey hold you tight make e rotten.
You don make me know the way of life, you go make me really get plenty joy for where you dey.’*
“My people, my brothers, e dey fine to dey free to talk to una about the family head David, say e die and them bury-am, and im grave dey with us till this day.
Because e be prophet and e know say God don swear and promise-am say e go put one of im pikin* for im throne,
e don know before time and talk about the resurrection of Christ say, them no go leave-am for inside Grave* and im body no go rotten.
God bring this Jesus back to life, and all of us see this one.
So, because God raise-am and put-am for im right hand side and e receive from the Papa the holy spirit wey e promise, e don pour wetin una see and hear.
David no go heaven, but e talk say, ‘Jehovah tell my Lord say: “Sitdown for my right hand side
until I put your enemies as stool wey you go put your leg ontop.”’
So make all the people of Israel know true-true say God don make-am Lord and Christ, this Jesus wey una kill for pole.”
Now when them hear this one, e worry them for heart, and them tell Peter and the rest of the apostles say: “Our people, our brothers, wetin we suppose do?”
Peter tell them say: “Make una repent and make each one of una baptize for the name of Jesus Christ, so that God go forgive una sins and una go receive the free gift of the holy spirit.
The promise na for una and for una children and for all the people wey dey far, for all the people wey Jehovah our God fit call to imself.”
And with plenty other words, e preach to them well, and e continue to advice them say: “Make una do wetin go make God save una from the wicked people of this time.”
So the people wey accept im word with joy, baptize. And that day, about 3,000 people* join them.
And them continue to put all their time and mind for wetin the apostles de teach, to do things together,* to chop together, and to pray.
The truth na say, everybody* begin fear, and plenty wonderful things and signs start to happen through the apostles.
All the people wey believe the good news dey together and de share everything wey them get with one another.
And them de sell things wey them get and their property, and de share the money to everybody according to wetin each person need.
And everyday, them de always dey for temple and de get one mind for wetin them want do, and them go chop their food for different-different house and share their food with plenty joy and with all their heart.
Them de praise God and de do wetin go make people like them. For the same time, na everyday Jehovah continue to add people wey e de save join them.
