Acts 23:1-35
23 Paul look the people for the San′he·drin well and talk say: “Men, my brothers, I don live my life for front of God with conscience wey really dey clean come reach today.”
2 So the high priest wey be An·a·ni′as command people wey stand near-am make them slap im mouth.
3 Then Paul tell-am say: “God go strike you, you wey be like wall wey them paint white. You sitdown for there de use Law judge me and for the same time you de break the Law as you command say make them slap me?”
4 People wey stand near there talk say: “You de insult the high priest of God?”
5 And Paul talk say: “My brothers, I no know say na high priest, because them don write-am say, ‘Make you no ever talk bad about person wey de rule your people.’”
6 Now as Paul know say one part of the people na Sadducee people but the other part na Pharisee people, e talk loud for the San′he·drin say: “Men, my brothers, I be Pharisee, and son of Pharisee people. Them de judge me because I get the hope say people wey don die go come back to life.”
7 Because e talk this one, argument start between the Pharisee people and the Sadducee people, and the people divide.
8 Because Sadducee people de talk say nothing like resurrection or angel or spirit, but Pharisee people accept all of them.*
9 So plenty noise start among them and some of the scribes wey dey Pharisee group stand up and start to really argue, de vex and de talk say: “We no see any bad thing wey this man don do, but if spirit or angel don talk to-am—.”
10 Now when the argument de plenty, the army commander fear say them go tear Paul to pieces, and e command the soldiers to go down and take Paul by force from among them and bring-am come where the soldiers de live.
11 But for night after wetin happen that day, the Lord stand near Paul and talk say: “No fear! Because just as you don de really preach well about me for Jerusalem, na so you go still preach for Rome.”
12 When daytime reach, the Jew people plan together and swear say them no go chop or drink until them don kill Paul.
13 Them pass 40 men wey swear and make this plan together.
14 This men go meet the chief priests and the elders and talk say: “We don swear serious swear* say we no go chop anything at all until we don kill Paul.
15 So now, make una, together with the San′he·drin tell the army commander say make e bring Paul to una, like say una want really check im case well, but before e near here, we go don ready to kill-am.”
16 But, the son of Paul sister hear say them de plan to hide wait for Paul, and e enter where the soldiers de live and tell Paul.
17 So Paul call one of the army officers and tell-am say: “Take this young man go meet the army commander because e get something wey e want tell-am.”
18 So e take-am go meet the army commander and talk say: “The prisoner Paul call me and tell me say make I bring this young man come meet you because e get something wey e want tell you.”
19 The army commander hold im hand and take-am go one corner and ask-am say: “Wetin you want tell me?”
20 E talk say: “The Jew people don agree say them go tell you make you bring Paul come the San′he·drin tomorrow like say them want really know more about im case.
21 But no allow them to make you do wetin them want, because more than 40 of their men de hide wait for Paul. And them don swear* say them no go chop or drink until them don kill-am; and them don ready now, de wait for you to promise them.”
22 So the army commander allow the young man go, after e don command-am say: “No tell anybody say you don tell me this things.”
23 And e call two of the army officers and tell them say: “Make una prepare 200 soldiers wey go march reach Caes·a·re′a, and 70 horsemen and 200 soldiers wey carry spear, for the third hour of the night.*
24 And make una still arrange horse them for Paul so that nothing go do-am until e reach where governor Felix dey.”
25 And e write for letter say:
26 “From Claudius Lys′i·as to the Great One, Governor Felix: I greet you!
27 The Jew people hold this man and them be want kill-am, but quick-quick I come with my soldiers and save-am because I find out say e be Rome person.
28 And because I want know why them de talk things against-am, I bring-am come their San′he·drin.
29 I see say the things wey them de talk against-am na things wey concern their Law, but them no get even one thing wey show say e suppose die or go prison.
30 But because I don hear say them get plan against the man, quick-quick I de send-am to you and I de command the people wey dey against-am to talk the things wey e do for your front.”
31 So this soldiers take Paul as them don command them and bring-am to An·tip′a·tris for night.
32 The next day them allow the horsemen to go with Paul, but the rest of them go back to where the soldiers de live.
33 The horsemen enter Caes·a·re′a and give the governor the letter and still give Paul to-am.
34 So e read the letter and ask about the area wey e come from and e find out say e come from Ci·li′cia.
35 E talk say: “I go listen to your case well when the people wey de talk against you come.” And e command say make them keep-am for the palace of Herod and de watch-am.
