8  But for Saul, e gree make them kill Stephen. That day, people start to really suffer the congregation for Jerusalem no be small. Everybody except the apostles scatter for the whole area of Ju·de′a and Sa·mar′i·a.  But some men wey get deep respect for God carry Stephen go bury-am, and them really cry because of Stephen no be small.  But Saul start to attack the congregation. E de go from house to house de drag both men and women come out, make them put them for prison.  But the people wey don scatter go everywhere for the land de preach the good news of the word.  Now Philip go down to the city* of Sa·mar′i·a and start to preach about the Christ to them.  All the people together de put mind for wetin Philip de talk as them de listen and de look the miracles wey e de do.  Many people get wicked spirit,* and this spirit them go cry with loud voice and come out. Another thing be say, them cure many people wey no fit move their body and people wey no fit waka.  So the people for that city start to really happy.  Now one man dey the city wey im name na Simon. Before this time, e don de do magic and de make the people for the nation of Sa·mar′i·a de surprise. E de claim say e be really important person. 10  All of them, from the one wey small pass go reach the one wey big pass, de put mind for wetin e de do and de talk say: “This man na the Power of God, wey them de call Great.” 11  So them de put mind for wetin e de do because e don surprise them for some time with the magic wey e de do. 12  But when them believe Philip wey de preach the good news about the Kingdom of God and about the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women start to baptize. 13  And Simon believe the good news too, and after them baptize-am, e continue to follow Philip. And e surprise to see the signs and big-big miracles wey de happen. 14  When the apostles for Jerusalem hear say people for Sa·mar′i·a don accept the word of God, them send Peter and John to them; 15  and them go there and pray for them to get holy spirit. 16  Because nobody among them don receive holy spirit, but them don only baptize for the name of the Lord Jesus. 17  So them put their hand ontop them, and them start to receive holy spirit. 18  Now when Simon see say people de receive the holy spirit as the apostles de put their hand ontop them, e try to give them money, 19  and talk say: “Give me this power too, so that anybody wey I put my hand ontop go fit get holy spirit.” 20  But Peter tell-am say: “Make you die with your silver, because you think say you fit use money buy the free gift of God. 21  You no get part or share for this matter because your heart no straight for God eye. 22  So make you repent from this bad thing wey you get for your mind and really beg Jehovah for help say, if e dey possible, make e forgive you for the wicked thing wey dey your heart. 23  Because I see say you be bitter poison* and you be slave of things wey no correct for God eye.” 24  Simon answer them say: “Make una really beg Jehovah for me, so that nothing from the things wey una don talk go happen to me.” 25  So, when them don really preach well for everywhere and don talk about the word of Jehovah, them start to go back to Jerusalem. And as them de go, them de preach the good news for many village of Sa·mar′i·a people. 26  But, the angel of Jehovah tell Philip say: “Get up and go the south side for the road wey go down from Jerusalem to Gaz′a.” (This one na desert road.) 27  So e get up and go, and e see one man from E·thi·o′pi·a wey get high position.* The man get authority under Can·da′ce wey be queen of E·thi·o′pi·a people, and e de control all the things wey get value wey the queen get. E be go Jerusalem to worship. 28  E de come back and e sitdown for im chariot. E de read loud from the book of prophet Isaiah. 29  So the spirit tell Philip say: “Go there, and near this chariot.” 30  Philip run follow-am for the side and hear-am de read loud from the book of Isaiah the prophet, and e talk say: “You really know* wetin you de read?” 31  E talk say: “How I go fit ever know, unless person guide me?” So e tell Philip to enter and sitdown with-am. 32  Now the place wey e de read for the word of God talk say: “Like sheep, them carry-am come kill, and like small sheep wey dey quiet for people wey de remove im hair, e no open im mouth. 33  The time wey them treat-am anyhow, them no judge-am well. Who go talk about the things wey really concern who e be? Because them don take im life comot from the earth.” 34  So the man tell Philip say: “Abeg tell me, who the prophet de talk about for here? Na about imself or na about another man?” 35  Philip start to talk, and as e start with this part of the scripture, e tell-am the good news about Jesus. 36  Now as them de go for road, them reach where water dey, and the man talk say: “See! Na water be this, wetin de stop me make I no baptize?” 37  *—— 38  With that one, e command make them stop the chariot, and Philip and the man go down inside the water, and Philip baptize-am. 39  When them come out from the water, quick-quick, the spirit of Jehovah direct Philip comot for there and the man no see-am again, but the man de happy as e de go. 40  But, Philip see imself for Ash′dod, and e go everywhere for the area and continue to preach the good news for all the city, until e reach Caes·a·re′a.
