Hebrews 5:1-14

  • Jesus high pass any human high priest (1-10)

    • Like Melchizedek (6, 10)

    • E learn how to obey from the things wey e suffer (8)

    • E get the work to save people forever (9)

  • Make we no be people wey no mature (11-14)

5  Every high priest wey them choose from men de work for people to do the things wey connect with God, so that e fit give gifts and make sacrifice for sins.  E go fit de feel pity for* people wey no know wetin them de do and wey de do bad* because e get where e dey weak* too.  And because of that one, e must do sacrifice for im own sins just as e de do for other people.  Person no de give imself this kind honor, but e de receive-am only when God choose-am, just as e choose Aaron.  So for the same way, no be Christ make imself high priest to get honor. Instead, e get honor from the Person wey tell-am say: “You be my son; today I don be your papa.”  And e still talk for another place say, “You be priest forever like Mel·chiz′e·dek.”  When Christ live for this earth,* e really beg God for help and still tell-am wetin e want with serious cry and tears. E pray to the Person wey fit save-am from death, and because e de fear God, God hear im prayer well.  Even though say e be Son of God, e learn how to obey from the things wey e suffer.  And after e don qualify well,* e get the work to save people forever if them obey-am, 10  because God don choose-am as high priest like Mel·chizʹe·dek. 11  We get plenty things to talk about Christ, but e dey hard to explain, because una don dey slow to understand wetin una de hear.* 12  Even though say una suppose don be teachers now,* una need person again to teach una from the beginning, the first things wey una don learn from the holy message of God, and una don go back to be people wey need milk instead of solid food. 13  And anybody wey continue to drink milk no really know the word of God wey de teach us wetin correct,* because the person na small pikin. 14  But solid food na for mature people, people wey don train their mind* for the way them de use-am to know the difference between good and bad.
