James 3:1-18
3 My brothers, no be all of una suppose be teachers, because una know say the way God go judge us wey de teach go strong pass other people own.
2 Because all of us de make mistake* plenty times. If anybody dey wey no de make mistake for things wey e de talk, e mean say the person no get sin* and e fit control im whole body.
3 If we fit make horse obey us because of the rope wey we tie for im mouth, then we go fit control the horse go anywhere wey we want.
4 Na so ship be too. Even though say e big well-well and strong breeze de make-am move, na paddle* wey really small the person wey de control the ship de use control-am go anywhere wey e want.
5 Na so the tongue still be. Even though say na small part of the body e be, e de boast no be small. Una never notice-am say na small fire de burn big forest?
6 Our tongue still be like fire. Na one part of our body wey de do wicked things, wey de spoil the whole body. E fit destroy person life finish, and na the fire for Ge·henʹna* de destroy-am.
7 People fit control and them don de control all kind of bush animal, birds, animals like snake and the ones wey de stay for water.
8 But no human being fit control the tongue. E de hard to control and e fit wound person. Poison wey fit kill person full-am.
9 We de use-am praise Jehovah, our Papa, and we still de use-am de curse people wey God make to be like-am.
10 Na this same mouth we de use praise and still de use-am curse.
My brothers, e no good make things continue to happen like this.
11 Water wey good and the one wey no good fit de come out from the same place for the same time?
12 My brothers, olive fruit no fit come from fig tree and fig fruit no fit come from grapevine, abi e fit? Na so e no still dey possible for ordinary water to come out from where salt water de come from.
13 Who among una get sense and de understand things? Make e show-am with im better character and make e de do everything with cool mind wey person de get because e get better sense.
14 But if for una heart, una de jealous other people well-well, and de like to quarrel,* make una no de boast say una get sense because that one no be true.
15 This one no be sense wey de come from God. Na sense from this world, from people wey their body de control, and from demons.
16 Because when people de jealous each other and de quarrel,* things de scatter and different-different bad things de happen.
17 But the sense wey come from God de first make person clean. E still de make person always do wetin go make peace dey. The person no de talk say na im own them must take, e ready to obey, e de pity people well-well, e de do good things,* e no de do partial, and e no de pretend.
18 Another thing be say, people wey de try so that their friendship with other people no go spoil, de make peace dey and this one go make them de do wetin correct.*
