John 11:1-57
11 Now, e get one man wey de sick, wey im name na Lazʹa·rus. E come from Bethʹa·ny, wey be the village of Mary and im sister Martha.
2 Na this Mary pour perfume oil ontop the Lord and use im hair dry the leg. Na im brother Lazʹa·rus de sick so.
3 So im sisters send message to Jesus say: “Lord, see! your friend wey you love well-well de sick.”
4 But when Jesus hear about-am, e talk say: “No be death this sickness go take end, but na for people to praise God and still because of-am praise the Son of God.”
5 Jesus love Martha and im sister and Lazʹa·rus.
6 But when e hear say Lazʹa·rus de sick, e still stay where e dey for another two days.
7 After this one, e tell im disciples say: “Make we go Ju·deʹa again.”
8 The disciples come tell-am say: “Rabbi, e never too tey wey Ju·deʹa people be want stone you, you want still go there again?”
9 Jesus come answer them say: “Daytime de last for 12 hours, no be so? If person de waka for daytime, e no de nack leg for anything because e de see the light of this world.
10 But if person de waka for night, e de fall because the light no dey inside-am.”
11 After e talk this things, e still talk say: “Lazʹa·rus our friend don sleep, but I de travel go there so that I go wake-am up.”
12 Then the disciples tell-am say: “Lord, if e de sleep, e go well.”
13 But na die Jesus de talk say e don die. But them de think say e de talk about ordinary sleep.
14 Then Jesus tell them straight say: “Lazʹa·rus don die,
15 and I happy for una well-well say I be no dey there, so that una go believe. But make we go meet-am.”
16 So Thomas, wey them de call the Twin, tell the other disciples say: “Make we go too, so that we go die with-am.”
17 When Jesus reach there, e see say Lazʹa·rus don already dey inside grave* for four days.
18 Now Bethʹa·ny near Jerusalem, na about two miles* from Jerusalem.
19 And many of the Jew people come meet Martha and Mary to greet them because of their brother wey die.
20 When Martha hear say Jesus de come, e go meet-am, but Mary sitdown for house.
21 Then Martha tell Jesus say: “Lord, if to say you dey here, my brother for no die.
22 But even now, I know say anything wey you ask God, God go give you.”
23 Jesus come tell-am say: “Your brother go come back to life.”
24 Martha come tell-am say: “I know say e go come back to life for the resurrection, for the last day.”
25 Jesus tell-am say: “Na me be the resurrection and the life. Anybody wey put faith for me, even if e die, e go come back to life.
26 And anybody wey dey alive and wey put faith for me, no go ever die. You believe this one?”
27 E tell Jesus say: “Yes, Lord, I don believe say na you be the Christ, the Son of God, the person wey de come the world.”
28 When e don talk this one, e come comot go call Mary im sister, and tell-am for ear say: “The Teacher don come and e de call you.”
29 As e hear this one, e stand up quick-quick go meet-am.
30 That time, Jesus never enter the village, e still dey the place where Martha come meet-am.
31 And when the Jew people wey come greet them wey dey with Mary for house see say e get up quick-quick de comot, them come follow-am because them think say e de go the grave* to go cry for there.
32 When Mary reach where Jesus dey and see-am, e kneel down for im front and tell-am say: “Lord, if to say you dey here, my brother for no die.”
33 When Jesus see-am de cry and the Jew people wey follow-am come wey de cry, e come show say the thing pain-am reach bone* and e worry-am.
34 E ask them say: “Where una carry-am put?” Them tell-am say: “Lord, come see-am.”
35 Then tears comot from Jesus eye.
36 So the Jew people start to talk say: “See the kind strong love wey e get for-am!”
37 But some of them talk say: “This man wey open the eye of the blind man for no fit do-am make this one no die?”
38 Then after Jesus don show again say the thing pain-am reach bone, e come where the grave* dey. The truth be say the grave na cave wey them use stone cover im mouth.
39 Jesus come talk say: “Make una comot the stone.” Martha wey be the sister of the person wey die come tell-am say: “Lord, e go don de smell by now, because e don reach four days.”
40 Jesus come tell-am say: “I no tell you say if you believe, you go see the glory of God?”
41 So them comot the stone. Then Jesus look heaven and talk say: “Papa, I thank you say you don hear my prayer.
42 I know say you de always hear my prayer, but I de talk this one because of the plenty people wey stand for here, so that them go believe say na you send me come.”
43 After e don talk this things, e come use loud voice talk say: “Lazʹa·rus, come out!”
44 Then the man wey don die, come out with the things wey them use wrap im leg and hand, and them use cloth wrap im face. Jesus come tell them say: “Make una loose the things comot make e go.”
45 So many of the Jew people wey come meet Mary and wey see wetin Jesus do come put faith for-am.
46 But some of them go meet the Pharisee people and tell them wetin Jesus do.
47 So the chief priests and the Pharisee people gather everybody wey be member of the Sanʹhe·drin together, and talk say: “Wetin we go do, because this man de do plenty miracles?
48 If we allow-am continue like this, all of them go put faith for-am and Rome people go come take our place* and our nation.”
49 But one of them wey be Caʹia·phas, and wey be high priest for that year tell them say: “Una no know anything at all,
50 and una never think-am say e better for una make one person die for all the people than say make them destroy the whole nation.”
51 No be from im own thinking e talk this one, but because na im be high priest that year, God use-am talk wetin go happen, say, Jesus go die for the nation,
52 no be only for the nation, but to fit still gather the children of God wey scatter for different-different place together as one.
53 So from that day, them come de plan how to kill-am.
54 So, Jesus no come de waka for public among the Jew people, but e comot from there go the area wey near wilderness. E go one city wey them de call Eʹphra·im, and e stay there with im disciples.
55 Now, the Passover of the Jew people don near, and many people wey come from the village them go Jerusalem before the Passover, so that them go make theirself clean as the Law of Moses talk.
56 Them come de look for Jesus, and as them stand for different-different place for the temple, them de ask each other say: “Wetin you think? E no go come the festival at all?”
57 But the chief priests and the Pharisee people don command the people say if anybody know where Jesus dey, make the person tell them so that them go go catch-am.*
