Luke 1:1-80
1 As e be say many people don try to know and write down the true story of the things wey happen wey we really believe,
2 just as the people wey see this things with their eye from the start and announce the message tell us,
3 me too don decide to write them to you one by one as them take happen, honorable The·oph′i·lus, because I don check all the things from the beginning and see say them correct,
4 so that you go really know say the things wey them use mouth teach you na true.
5 For the time of Herod,* wey be king of Ju·de′a, e get one priest wey im name na Zech·a·ri′ah wey be part of the group of A·bi′jah. Im wife na from the family of Aaron, and im name na Elizabeth.
6 Two of them de do wetin correct for God eye as them de use all their heart obey all the commandments of Jehovah and everything wey e talk say make them do.
7 But them no get pikin, because Elizabeth no fit born, and two of them don old.
8 Now, as Zech·a·ri′ah de serve as priest for front of God, de do the work of im group,
9 e come reach im turn to enter the holy place of Jehovah to burn incense as them don arrange-am say make priests de do.
10 And all the plenty people de pray for outside for the time wey them de burn incense.
11 Jehovah angel come appear to-am, and the angel stand for the right side of the altar wey them de use burn incense.
12 But when Zech·a·ri′ah see-am, e confuse and fear catch-am no be small.
13 But the angel tell-am say: “Make you no fear, Zech·a·ri′ah, because God don hear the prayer wey you de pray with all your heart. Your wife Elizabeth go born pikin for you wey be boy, and una go call-am John.
14 Belle go sweet you and you go happy no be small, and many people go happy when them born-am.
15 Because the pikin go dey important for Jehovah eye, but make e no ever drink wine or any drink wey get alcohol, and holy spirit go dey im body even before them born-am.*
16 E go make many Israel people come back to Jehovah their God.
17 Another thing be say, e go go before God with the same spirit and power wey E·li′jah get, to change the heart of papa them make e be like children own, and e go make people wey de disobey start to do things with sense as righteous people de do, so that the people wey e go ready for Jehovah, go be people wey don prepare.”
18 Zech·a·ri′ah come tell the angel say: “How I fit dey sure say this thing go happen? Because I don old and my wife don old too.”
19 The angel come answer-am say: “My name na Ga′bri·el, wey de stand for the front of God, and e send me to come talk with you and tell you this good news.
20 But see! your mouth go close, you no go fit talk until the day when this things go happen because you no believe wetin I talk, wey go happen when the time wey God fix reach.”
21 All this time, the people still de wait for Zech·a·ri′ah and them surprise say e tey well-well for inside the holy place.
22 When e come out, e no fit talk to them. Them come know say e don see one wonderful thing* inside the holy place. E come de use hand talk to them because e no fit use im mouth talk.
23 When the days wey e take de do the holy work don complete, e come go im house.
24 After some days, im wife Elizabeth come get belle, and for five months, e no comot from house, and e de talk say:
25 “See wetin Jehovah don do for me for this time. E don remember me, so that e go make me make I no be disgrace for people eye again.”
26 When im belle don reach six months, God send angel Ga′bri·el go one city for Gal′i·lee wey them de call Naz′a·reth,
27 to go meet one virgin, wey one man wey come from David family don promise say e go marry. The man name na Joseph and the name of the virgin na Mary.
28 When the angel enter, e tell Mary say: “I greet you, you wey them don favor well-well, Jehovah dey with you.”
29 But wetin the angel talk worry-am well-well, e come de try to understand wetin that greeting fit mean.
30 So the angel tell-am say: “Make you no fear Mary, because God de happy with you.
31 And see! you go get belle, and born boy, and the name wey you go give-am na Jesus.
32 This pikin go be important person, and them go call-am the Son of the Person Wey High Pass, and Jehovah God go give-am the throne of David im papa.
33 And e go rule the house of Jacob as King forever, and im Kingdom no go end.”
34 But Mary ask the angel say: “How this one go take happen, as e be say I never sleep with man before?”
35 The angel come answer-am say: “Holy spirit go come ontop you and the power of the Person Wey High Pass go cover you. Because of this one, them go call the pikin wey you go born, holy, God Son.
36 And see! Elizabeth wey be your family person don get belle too even though say e don old, and na boy e go born. The woman wey them talk say e no fit born pikin, don get belle for six months now;
37 because e no get anything wey God talk wey e no go fit do.”
38 Then Mary talk say: “See! I be Jehovah slave girl! Make e happen to me as you talk-am.” After that one, the angel come comot leave-am.
39 So for that time, Mary come enter road and travel quick-quick go one city for Judah for the area wey mountains dey,
40 e come enter Zech·a·ri′ah house and greet Elizabeth.
41 As Elizabeth hear Mary greeting, the pikin wey dey inside im belle come jump, holy spirit come full Elizabeth body.
42 E come talk with loud voice say: “Among all the women, you be person wey them don bless, and them don bless the pikin wey dey your belle too!
43 So how I take get this honor, say the mama of my Lord come meet me?
44 Because see! as I just take my ear hear your greeting, the pikin wey dey inside my belle just jump with joy.
45 The woman wey believe go happy too, because those things wey Jehovah tell-am go happen finish.”
46 Mary come talk say: “My soul* de talk how Jehovah big reach,
47 and my spirit no go fit stop to happy well-well because of God my Savior,
48 because e don look the low position wey im slave girl dey. And see! from now, all generations go de call me person wey God don bless,*
49 because the powerful One don do big things for me and im name holy,
50 and from generation to generation, e de show mercy to people wey de fear-am.
51 E don use im hand do powerful things, e don scatter people wey de think for their heart say them better pass other people.
52 E don comot people wey get high position from their thrones, and e don raise people wey them no take as anything up;
53 e don give hungry people good things make them chop belleful, and e don pursue rich people comot with empty hand.
54 E don come help im servant Israel, to show say e remember im promise say e go show mercy
55 to Abraham and im pikin them* forever, just as e tell our papa-papa them.”
56 Mary stay with-am for about three months, then e come go back to im own house.
57 Time come reach for Elizabeth to born and na boy e born.
58 Im neighbors and im family people come hear say Jehovah don show-am mercy no be small, them come de follow-am happy.
59 For the eighth day, them come so that them go circumcise the pikin, and them be want give-am im papa name, Zech·a·ri′ah.
60 But im mama talk say: “No! na John be the name wey we go give-am.”
61 So them come tell-am say: “Nobody for your family get this name.”
62 Then, them come use hand ask im papa the name wey e want make them call the pikin.
63 So e say make them give-am slate, e come write say: “Na John be im name.” This one come surprise all of them.
64 At once, im mouth come open and im tongue free, e come start to talk, de praise God.
65 Fear come catch all the people wey de live around them and them start to talk about all this things for the whole area of Ju·de′a wey mountains dey.
66 And all the people wey hear about-am put-am for their mind, de talk say: “Which kind person this pikin go be when e don grow?” Because the hand of Jehovah really dey with-am.
67 Holy spirit come full Zech·a·ri′ah im papa body, and e talk wetin come from God, say:
68 “Make them praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, because e don remember im people, and e don save them.
69 And e don give us one powerful savior,* wey come from the family of David im servant,
70 just as e don use the mouth of im holy prophets for olden days talk
71 about how e go save us from our enemies and from the hand of all the people wey hate us,
72 to show us mercy as e don promise our papa-papa them, and to remember im holy agreement
73 wey e swear give Abraham our papa-papa,
74 so that after them don save us from the hand of our enemies, e go give us the honor to do holy work for-am without fear
75 and hold-am tight and de do wetin good for im eyes all the days of our life.
76 But as for you my pikin, them go call you prophet of the Person Wey High Pass, because you go first go before Jehovah to make im road ready,
77 to make im people know say the way e go take save them na to forgive their sins,
78 because our God really get pity and because of this pity wey e get, we go see light from heaven wey go shine like when day don break,
79 to make light shine for people wey sitdown for darkness and area wey death cover like shadow and to show us how to waka for the road of peace.”
80 The pikin come grow and de do well for God eye* and e continue to stay for desert until the day when e show imself for public to the people of Israel.
