The beginning of the good news about Jesus Christ wey be the Son of God:
Just as them write-am for the book of Isaiah the prophet say: “(See! I de send my messenger make e first you go, and e go make your road ready.)
Them de hear one loud voice from wilderness wey de talk say: ‘Make Jehovah road* ready! Make im roads straight!’”
John the Baptizer be dey the wilderness de preach about baptism wey be sign to show say person don repent so that God go forgive im sins.
And people wey dey everywhere for Ju·de′a and all the people wey de live for Jerusalem de go meet-am, and e baptize them* for River Jordan, as them de confess their sins for front of everybody.
Now, John de wear cloth wey them make with camel hair and e de use leather belt tie im waist and na locusts and bush honey be im food.
And e be de preach say: “Person wey strong pass me de come for my back, I no even reach to bend down and loose the rope of im sandals.
I baptize una with water, but e go baptize una with holy spirit.”
For that time, Jesus come from Naz′a·reth of Gal′i·lee and John baptize-am for River Jordan.
And as e just come out of the water, e see heaven* de open, and the spirit of God wey de come down ontop-am like dove.
And one voice talk from heaven* say: “You be my Son, wey I love, you de make me happy.”
And at once, the spirit move-am go wilderness.
So e stay for wilderness for 40 days, and Satan tempt-am for there. E be dey there with bush animals, but the angels be de help-am.
Now after them arrest John, Jesus come enter Gal′i·lee go de preach the good news of God,
and e de talk say: “The time wey them fix don reach and the Kingdom of God don near. Make una repent and put faith for the good news.”
As e de waka near the Sea of Gal′i·lee, e come see Simon and Andrew im brother, them de throw their nets inside sea because them be fishermen.
So Jesus tell them say: “Make una come follow me, and I go make una fishers of men.”*
Na so them just leave their nets and follow-am.
As e comot from there go far small, e see James wey be son of Zeb′e·dee and im brother John, as them dey inside their boat de repair their nets,
and e no waste time call them. So them leave their papa Zeb′e·dee for the boat with the people wey them hire, and them follow-am.
Them come enter Ca·per′na·um.
As the Sabbath just start, e enter the synagogue and start to teach.
And the way e teach really surprise the people, because e teach them like person wey get authority, no be like their scribes.*
For that same time, one man be dey their synagogue wey wicked spirit* de control, and e shout say:
“Wetin we get to do together, Jesus wey come from Naz′a·reth? You come here come destroy us? I know exactly who you be, you be the Holy One of God!”
But Jesus command-am say: “Shut up, come out of im body!”
The wicked spirit come make the man shake well-well,* and shout with loud voice, then e come out of im body.
The thing really surprise the people sotey them come de discuss among theirself say: “Wetin be this? Na new teaching! E de command even wicked spirits* with authority and them de obey-am.”
So the news about-am come spread fast-fast go everywhere for the whole area of Gal′i·lee.
So them come comot from the synagogue and go the house of Simon and Andrew. James and John go with them too.
For this time, the mama of Simon wife get fever, and e lie down, and them no waste time to tell Jesus about-am.
As Jesus go meet-am, e hold im hand and raise-am up, the fever come comot from im body and e start to do things for them.
For evening time, when the sun don go down, the people start to bring all the people wey de sick and wey demon dey their body come meet-am;
and everybody for the city come gather for front of the door.
So e cure many people wey get different-different kind of sickness, and e pursue many demons comot, but e no let the demons talk, because them know say na im be the Christ.*
For early morning when everywhere still dark, e come get up go outside and comot go one place wey people no dey and start to pray for there.
But Simon and people wey dey with-am come de look for-am for everywhere
and when them see-am, them come tell-am say: “Everybody de find you.”
But e tell them say: “Make we go another place, for other town them wey near here, so that I go preach for there too, because na the reason why I come be that.”
And e go, de preach for their synagogues, for the whole Gal′i·lee, and de pursue demons comot.
For there, one person wey get leprosy still come meet-am and e even kneel down de beg-am and de tell-am say: “If you want, you fit make me clean.”
So, because Jesus pity for-am, e come stretch im hand, touch-am and tell-am say: “I want do-am! Make you dey clean.”
At once, the leprosy comot from im body and e clean.
Then quick-quick, Jesus tell-am make e go, and e warn-am well-well,
e tell-am say: “Make sure say you no tell anybody anything, but make you go show yourself to the priest, and give-am wetin Moses talk say leper wey don clean go give, so that e go show them say you don well.”
But when the man comot, e come start to tell people wetin happen and de spread the story for everywhere. Because of this one, Jesus no come fit de enter any city for where people fit see-am, e come de stay for outside, for place them wey people no dey. Still, them continue to come meet-am from every corner.
