15  As day just break, the chief priests with the elders and the scribes,* in fact, everybody wey be part of the San′he·drin do meeting together. Them come tie Jesus and carry-am comot go give Pilate.  So Pilate ask-am say: “Na you be King of Jew people?” E come answer-am say: “Na you yourself de talk-am.”  But the chief priests de talk say Jesus do plenty bad things.  Pilate come start to ask-am again say: “You no get anything to talk? See the plenty things wey them de talk against you.”  But Jesus no talk anything again. This one come surprise Pilate.  That time, from festival to festival, Pilate de release one prisoner give the people, the one wey them talk say make e release.  And that time, one man wey im name be Bar·ab′bas be dey prison with some people wey de fight against government, wey be say as them de fight against government, them kill people.  So the plenty people come and start to tell Pilate make e do wetin e de always do for them.  E come answer them say: “Una want make I release the King of Jew people give una?” 10  Because Pilate know say na bad belle* make the chief priests carry-am come give-am. 11  But the chief priests push the plenty people to tell-am say make e release Bar·ab′bas give them instead of Jesus. 12  Pilate come ask them again say: “So wetin una want make I do to the person wey una de call the King of Jew people?” 13  Them come shout again say: “Go kill-am for pole!” 14  Pilate come ask them say: “Why? Which bad thing e do?” But them continue to shout more-more say: “Go kill-am for pole!” 15  As Pilate hear this one, because say e want do wetin go make the plenty people happy, e come release Bar·ab′bas give them; and after e don talk say make them flog Jesus, e come carry-am give them say make them go kill-am for pole. 16  The soldiers come carry Jesus enter the compound, wey be, the place wey the governor de stay, them come gather all the soldiers come. 17  Them come wear-am purple cloth and them use chuku-chuku make one crown and put-am for im head. 18  Them come de tell-am say: “We greet* you, you wey be King of Jew people!” 19  Apart from that one, them be de use one tall grass wey be like stick hit im head and de spit for im body, them come kneel down and bow down for-am. 20  Last-last, when them don use-am do yeye finish, them come pull the purple cloth comot and wear-am im cloths,* then them carry-am go so that them go nail-am for pole. 21  Them still force one man wey de pass say make e carry Jesus torture pole,* the man name na Simon, wey come from Cy·re′ne, and na the papa of Alexander and Ru′fus. That time e de come from outside the city. 22  Them come carry-am come the place wey them de call Gol′go·tha wey mean, “Skull Place.” 23  For here, them try to give-am wine wey them mix with one kind drug wey them de call myrrh, but e no gree drink-am. 24  Them come nail-am for pole and cast lots to divide the cloths wey e wear ontop, so that them go decide the one wey each person go take. 25  By this time, e don reach the third hour,* and them nail Jesus for pole. 26  And them write wetin them use accuse-am, wey be: “The King of Jew people.” 27  Them still hang two criminals for pole by im side, one dey for im right side, and the other one dey for im left side. 28  *—— 29  And people wey de pass that place de talk bad things to-am and de shake their head de talk say: “Ehen! You wey talk say you go scatter the temple and use three days build-am back, 30  save yourself, come down from the torture pole.”* 31  Na so the chief priests with the scribes de use-am do yeye too as them de talk to each other, de talk say: “E save other people but e no fit save imself! 32  Make the Christ wey be the King of Israel come down now from the torture pole* so that we go see-am and believe.” Even the people wey them hang for pole with-am be de insult-am like that too. 33  When the sixth hour* reach, darkness come cover the whole land until the ninth hour.* 34  And when the ninth hour reach, Jesus shout with loud voice say: “E′li, E′li, la′ma sa·bach·tha′ni?” and this one mean: “My God, my God, why you leave me?” 35  And when some of the people wey stand near there hear this one, them come start to talk say: “See! E de call E·li′jah.” 36  Then somebody come run go carry sponge and soak-am for sour wine, put-am for tall grass wey be like stick and give-am to-am make e drink, de talk say: “Leave-am! Make we see whether E·li′jah go come carry-am come down.” 37  But Jesus come shout with loud voice and die.* 38  And the curtain wey dey the temple* tear into two from top go reach down. 39  When the army officer wey stand face Jesus see this things wey happen when Jesus die, e talk say: “True-true, this man na the Son of God.” 40  E still get some women wey be dey there de look from far place, some of them na Mary Mag′da·lene, Mary the mama of Small James* and Jo′ses, and Sa·lo′me. 41  This women be de follow-am and help-am when e dey Gal′i·lee, plus plenty other women wey follow-am come Jerusalem. 42  Now as e don de near evening, and since na Preparation Day, wey be, the day before the Sabbath, 43  Joseph of Ar·i·ma·the′a come, this man na one of the people for the Council wey them de respect well-well. E too na person wey be de wait for the Kingdom of God. E gather mind go meet Pilate and talk say make them give-am Jesus body. 44  But Pilate be de wonder whether Jesus go don already die. So e call the army officer and e ask-am whether Jesus don already die. 45  So after e don dey sure from the army officer, e allow Joseph carry the body. 46  After Joseph don buy fine linen cloth and bring Jesus body come down, e use the fine linen cloth wrap-am and put-am for one grave* wey them dig inside rock, then e roll stone cover the mouth of the grave. 47  But Mary Mag′da·lene and Mary the mama of Jo′ses continue to de look the place wey them carry im body put.
