Matthew 14:1-36

14  For that time, Herod* wey de rule that area hear the story about Jesus.  E come tell im servants say: “This na John the Baptist. E don come back to life, na im make e get the power to do all this miracles.”  Herod be don arrest John and put-am for prison because of He·ro′di·as, the wife of Philip im brother.  Because John be don de tell-am say: “You no get right to take-am as your wife.”  But even though say e be want kill John, e de fear the people because them believe say John na prophet.  But when them de do Herod birthday, the daughter of He·ro′di·as dance for the party and this one make Herod happy no be small,  sotey e swear and promise-am say e go give-am anything wey e want.  Then the girl come follow wetin im mama tell-am and talk say: “Make you put the head of John the Baptist for tray give me as we dey here so.”  Even though say this thing pain the king, but because e don swear, and because of the people wey de chop* with-am, e command im servant to do-am. 10  So e send one of im soldiers to go cut John head for prison. 11  Them bring the head ontop tray and give the girl, and e carry-am go give im mama. 12  After, im disciples come carry im dead body go bury-am. Then, them come tell Jesus wetin happen. 13  When Jesus hear this one, e comot from there enter boat, come go where people no dey, so that e go dey there alone. But as plenty people come hear this one, them come out from their cities, trek follow-am. 14  When Jesus come out from the boat, e see plenty-plenty people and e pity for them. And e cure all the people wey de sick. 15  But when evening reach, im disciples come meet-am and tell-am say: “People no de live near this place, and time don go well-well. Tell all this people make them de go, so that them go fit go inside the village them go buy wetin them go chop for theirself.” 16  But Jesus come tell them say: “Them no need to go, make una give them wetin them go chop.” 17  Them tell-am say: “We no get anything for here, apart from five bread and two fish.” 18  E tell them say: “Make una bring-am come.” 19  Then e tell all the people make them sitdown ontop the grass. E come take the five bread and two fish, then e look heaven and pray.* And after e pray, e break the bread, give them to im disciples, and the disciples come share-am give all the people. 20  So all the people chop belleful, and when them gather wetin remain, e full 12 baskets. 21  The people wey chop the food na about 5,000 men, but them no count the women and the small children join. 22  Then e no waste time tell im disciples make them enter boat go wait for-am for the other side of the sea. As them de go, e come tell the plenty people make them de go too. 23  After all the people don go, e climb the mountain, only-am, to go pray. Even when night don come, na only-am still dey there. 24  By this time, the boat don really go far well-well* from land. But them de struggle with the waves for the sea wey de carry the boat up and down because strong breeze de blow come, from the side wey them de go. 25  But for the fourth watch of the night,* e come de waka ontop the water de go meet them. 26  When them see-am de waka ontop the water, the disciples come de fear de talk say: “Na spirit!” And them shout because them de fear. 27  But at once Jesus tell them say: “Make una heart no cut! Na me, make una no fear.” 28  So Peter come answer-am say: “Lord, if na you, command me make I come meet you for the water.” 29  E tell-am say: “Make you come!” So Peter comot from the boat and come de waka ontop the water de go meet Jesus. 30  But when e look and see how the breeze strong reach, fear catch-am. And when e start to sink, e come shout say: “Lord, save me!” 31  At once, Jesus stretch hand hold-am and tell-am say: “You wey your faith small, why you come de doubt?” 32  When them don enter inside the boat, the strong breeze come stop. 33  Then the other disciples wey dey inside the boat come bow down for-am and talk say: “True-true, you be the Son of God.” 34  Them come cross go the other side of the sea, come reach where land dey for Gen·nes′a·ret. 35  As the people for there see say na Jesus, them come send message go all the village them wey dey around there, and the people start to bring all the people wey de sick come meet-am. 36  And them come de beg-am say make them just touch the down part of the cloth wey e wear ontop, and all the people wey touch-am well finish.
