Matthew 22:1-46
22 Jesus come use examples talk to them again say:
2 “The Kingdom wey dey heaven be like one king wey arrange marriage party for im son.
3 And e send im slaves make them go call the people wey e don invite for the marriage party but them no gree come.
4 E come still send other slaves say, ‘Tell the people wey I don invite say: “See! I don prepare wetin una go chop. I don kill my bulls and my fat-fat animals and everything don ready. Make una come the marriage party.’”
5 But them do like say e no concern them. This one go im farm, the other one go im business,
6 but the rest, catch the slaves, beat them well-well and kill them.
7 “So the king vex well-well, and send im soldiers, and them kill the people wey kill im slaves and burn their city.
8 Then e tell im slaves say, ‘Everything for this marriage party don ready, but the people wey I invite no be the kind people wey suppose come this party.
9 So make una go the different-different road wey people de pass comot from the city and invite anybody wey una see come the marriage party.’
10 So the slaves go the different-different road, and them call all the people wey them see, wicked people and good people, and the room wey them de do the wedding party come full with people wey de chop.*
11 When the king come check the people wey them invite, e see one man wey no wear marriage cloth.
12 So e ask-am say, ‘My friend, how you take enter this place wey you no wear marriage cloth?’ But e no fit talk anything.
13 Then the king tell im servants say, ‘Make una tie im hand and im leg and throw-am for outside wey darkness dey. Na there e go dey, de cry and de grind im teeth.’
14 “Because na plenty people them invite but the people wey them choose no plenty.”
15 Then the Pharisee people comot go plan together so that them fit use wetin e de talk catch-am.
16 So them send their disciples to go meet-am, together with the group wey de support Herod. And them tell-am say: “Teacher, we know say you de always talk true, and you de teach the truth about the way of God. You no de do things to make people like you, because no be the way person be for outside you de look.
17 So tell us wetin you think. E good* to pay tax* to Caesar abi e no good?”
18 But as e be say Jesus know their wicked plan, e come ask them say: “Why una de test me, pretenders?
19 Make una show me the coin wey una de use pay tax.” Them come bring one de·nar′i·us show-am.
20 E come ask them say: “Which person picture and name be this?”
21 Them come tell-am say: “Na Caesar own.” Then e tell them say: “So make una pay back Caesar things to Caesar, but God things to God.”
22 When them hear this one, them surprise, and them leave-am comot.
23 That same day, Sadducee people wey talk say resurrection no dey, come meet-am and ask-am say:
24 “Teacher, Moses talk say: ‘If any man die when e never born any pikin, im brother must marry im wife and born pikin for im brother wey don die.’
25 We be get seven brothers wey be dey here with us. The first one marry and e die, and because e no born any pikin, im brother come marry im wife.
26 The same thing happen to the second one, and the third one, and na so e be for all the seven of them.
27 Last-last, the woman too die.
28 So for the resurrection, out of the seven, which person wife this woman go be? Since all of them be marry-am as their wife.”
29 Jesus come answer them say: “Una don miss road, because una no know the Word of God or the power of God.
30 Because for resurrection, men no go marry and them no go give women out for marriage, but them go be like angels for heaven.
31 Una never read wetin God tell una for im word about the resurrection of people wey don die when e talk say:
32 ‘I be the God of Abraham, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob’? E no be God of people wey don die, but na God of people wey dey alive.”
33 When the plenty people hear this one, the way e de teach really surprise them.
34 When the Pharisee people hear say Jesus don close the mouth of the Sadducee people, them come join together as one group.
35 And one of them, wey sabi the Law well-well, come test-am and ask-am say:
36 “Teacher, which commandment for the Law dey important pass?”
37 E tell-am say: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul* and with all your mind.’
38 This na the first commandment and na im dey important pass.
39 The second one wey be like this one, na: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 Na this two commandments be the foundation of the whole Law, and the things wey the Prophets write.”
41 As the Pharisee people still dey there together, Jesus ask them say:
42 “Wetin una think about the Christ? Na which person pikin e be?” Them tell-am say: “Na David pikin.”
43 E come ask them say: “So why e be say the spirit of God move David to call-am Lord, when e talk say,
44 ‘Jehovah tell my Lord say: “Sitdown for my right hand side, until I put your enemies under your feet”’?
45 So if David call-am Lord, how e take be David pikin?”
46 And nobody fit even talk one thing to answer im question, and from that day go, nobody try to ask-am any question again.
