Romans 4:1-25

  • God talk say Abraham dey righteous because of faith (1-12)

    • Abraham, the papa of everybody wey get faith (11)

  • Them get the promise because of faith (13-25)

4  So wetin we go talk say Abraham gain, wey be our papa-papa?*  For example, if God talk say Abraham dey righteous because of the things wey e do, e go get reason to boast but no be with God.  Wetin the word of God talk? “Abraham put faith for Jehovah, and this one make God see-am* as righteous person.”  Now as for the person wey de work, them no de see the money wey them de pay-am as special favor, but na as something wey them owe-am.  But as for the person wey no put trust for the things wey e de do, but e put faith for God wey talk say the wicked person dey righteous, God de see im faith as something wey dey righteous.  Just as David still talk about the happiness of person wey God de see as righteous person even though say the person no work to get-am, when e say:  “People wey de do bad wey God don forgive and wey e don cover* their sins go happy;  the person wey Jehovah no go hold for im sin again go happy.”  So this happiness, na only for people wey don circumcise or na still for people wey no circumcise? Because we talk say: “The faith wey Abraham get make God see-am* as righteous person.” 10  So na which time God see im faith say e dey righteous? Na when e don circumcise or when e never circumcise? Na when e never circumcise. 11  And e receive sign, wey be to circumcise, as stamp* say e dey righteous because of the faith wey e get when e never circumcise, so that e go fit be the papa of everybody wey get faith when them no circumcise, for God to see them as people wey dey righteous; 12  and so that e go fit be papa to children wey don circumcise, no be only to people wey de circumcise, but na still to people wey de follow the way of faith wey our papa Abraham get when e never circumcise. 13  No be because of law make Abraham or im children* get the promise say e go inherit one world, but na as e dey righteous because of faith. 14  If people wey de follow law go inherit the blessing, then faith don dey useless and the promise don cancel. 15  The truth be say, the Law de bring punishment, but when law no dey, nobody go fit break the law. 16  Na this one make the promise be because of faith, so that e go be because of special favor for all im children* to dey sure of the promise, no be only for people wey de follow the Law, but na still for people wey de follow the faith of Abraham wey be the papa of all of us. 17  (This one just be as them don write-am say: “I don make you papa of many nations.”) This one na for front of God wey e don put im faith for, wey de make person wey don die dey alive, and de talk about things wey no dey like say them dey.* 18  Even though say hope no dey, but na still because of hope, e get faith say e go be papa of many nations as God don promise say: “Na so your children* go be.” 19  And even as im faith no weak, e think about im own body wey don already die, (since na about 100 years e dey that time), and about Sarah wey don too old to born pikin.* 20  But because of the promise wey God make, e no shake like person wey no get faith; instead im faith make-am dey powerful, and e praise God. 21  And e really dey sure say God fit still do wetin E don promise. 22  So, “this one make God see-am* as righteous person.” 23  But, no be only because of-am them write this things say, “this one make God see-am,” 24  but na still because of us. Them go see us as righteous people too because we believe God, the Person wey bring Jesus our Lord back to life. 25  God allow make them kill Jesus because of our sins, and e bring-am back to life so that e go fit talk say we dey righteous.
