Eli wey be high priest get two pikin wey dey work for tabernacle as priest. Their name na Hophni and Phinehas. Their two no dey obey Jehovah and dem dey do people anyhow. If Israel people come sacrifice to Jehovah, dem go collect the best meat chop. Eli know sey im pikin dey do all this things, but e no do dem anything. Even though sey Hophni and Phinehas senior Samuel well well, e no do like dem. Jehovah like Samuel well well. As e dey sleep one night, e hear person dey call im name. Na im e get up, run go meet Eli and tell am sey: ‘See me!’ But Eli tell am sey: ‘I no call you o! Go sleep.’ Samuel go sleep. As e dey sleep, e hear am again. As Samuel hear am the third time, Eli come know sey na Jehovah dey call am. E tell Samuel sey if e hear the person call am again, make e sey: ‘Jehovah, abeg talk. Your servant dey hear you.’

Samuel come go sleep. E come hear the person dey call am again sey: ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ E answer am sey: ‘Abeg talk, your servant dey hear you.’ Jehovah tell am sey: ‘Tell Eli sey I go punish im and im family. E know sey im two pikin dey do bad things for the tabernacle but e no do dem anything.’ The next morning Samuel open the tabernacle door as e dey do before. E dey fear to tell Eli wetin Jehovah tell am. But Eli call am, ask am sey: ‘My pikin, wetin Jehovah tell you? Tell me everything.’ True true, Samuel tell am everything.

As Samuel dey grow, Jehovah continue to dey help am. Everywhere for Israel, people know sey Jehovah don choose Samuel to be prophet and judge.
