John do traveling overseer work for more than 43 years. E really like the work, e take-am as part of e life. But John stop the traveling work to care for e family member wey e de sick. Now John de serve for one congregation for the area wey e dey stay. Some people know John before. When they see John for assembly or convention, e just be like say e never change. E still dey happy as e dey before.

Wetin de make Diana and John happy? How person fit dey happy when e de sick and get other problems? And how person fit dey happy when condition no allow the person to continue to do the work wey e de do for Jehovah again? Bible give us the answer. E talk say: “Righteous person go dey happy because of Jehovah.” (Ps. 64:10) We fit understand this important truth well if we know wetin de give inner joy and wetin no de give-am.

The truth be say, some things de bring joy to people. Think about man and woman wey they love theirself and want marry. Or when person go soon be papa or mama or when person de get more work to do for Jehovah. This kind things de bring joy because they come from Jehovah. Na God start marriage, na e make people for way wey them fit born, and na e de give people work for congregation.​—Gen. 2:18, 22; Ps. 127:3; 1 Tim. 3:1.

But some things wey them de bring joy no de last. For example, for marriage, husband or wife fit die or e go sleep with another person outside their marriage. (Ezek. 24:18; Hos. 3:1) Some children fit no obey their parents and Jehovah, and they fit disfellowship  the person. The sons of Samuel no serve Jehovah the way e want, and wetin David do bring trouble for e own house. (1 Sam. 8:1-3; 2 Sam. 12:11) This kind things de bring pain and trouble. They no de bring us joy.

E dey the same with the work wey we fit de do for Jehovah’s organization. The work fit end, maybe because of sickness, some family matters or change for the organization. Many people wey their work don end don talk say them de miss the joy wey that work be de bring for them.

E dey clear say sometimes this things no de bring complete joy or they no de last. So, another kind of joy dey wey e de last forever, even if our condition change and affect us for bad way? Yes that kind joy dey, because Samuel, David and other servants of God be continue to dey happy even when they face problems.

Jesus be know wetin e mean to get real joy. Before Jesus come this earth, e dey heaven and things really dey fine for him. ‘All the time e dey happy as e dey with [Jehovah].’ (Prov. 8:30) Jesus face serious problems sometimes for this earth. But, e de always dey happy to do wetin e Papa want. (John 4:34) How about the last hours for e life wey e feel serious pain? Bible tell us say: “Because of the joy wey e get for front, e endure when they nail him for torture stake.” (Heb. 12:2) Make we see two things wey Jesus talk about real joy.

One time, the 70 disciples wey Jesus send to go preach come back meet him. Them dey happy say them do miracles, they even drive demons out of people. Jesus tell them say: “Make wuna no dey happy because the spirits obey wuna, make wuna dey happy because God don write wuna name for heaven.” (Luke 10:1-9, 17, 20) To get favor from Jehovah dey important pass the special work wey we fit get for Jehovah’s organization. Jehovah go remember those disciples and bless them. This one go give them plenty joy.

For another occasion, Jesus de talk to people. One Jew woman talk say the woman wey  e born Jesus, this wonderful teacher, go really dey happy. But Jesus correct the woman and say: “No, instead, people go dey happy if them de hear wetin God talk and them de do-am.” (Luke 11:27, 28) If papa and mama get pikin wey e de do well, e go make them happy. But papa and mama go really dey happy if them obey Jehovah.

True-true, the key to get inner joy na to get favor from Jehovah. Even when we de suffer, make we no forget this one. Instead, when we endure the problems and we remain faithful, e go bring us joy. (Rom. 5:3-5) And Jehovah de give e spirit to people wey they trust him, and joy na one quality wey holy spirit de make people to get. (Gal. 5:22) This one de help us to understand why Psalm 64:10 talk say: “Righteous person go dey happy because of Jehovah.”

This one help us understand why Diana and John wey we talk about before, continue to dey happy even as them de face serious problems. Diana talk say: “I de get protection from Jehovah, just as pikin de get protection from e papa.” How e de feel about the favor from Jehovah? E talk say: “I feel say e don bless me with power to continue to preach with smile for my face.” John wey e continue to preach after e traveling work end, talk wetin help him. E say: “Since 1998 when they say make I de teach for Ministerial Training School, I don do more personal study pass as I de do before.” When John de talk about e self and e wife, e talk say: “The way wey we don de serve Jehovah for the pass years no matter which work they give us don make-am easy for us to adjust. We no de regret wetin we don do.”

True-true, e no de always easy to dey happy, sometimes things go good and sometimes they go bad. But, for Psalm 64:10, Jehovah tell us say we fit dey happy. Even when things de make life hard for us, we fit trust say if ‘righteous people’ remain faithful, they “go dey happy because of Jehovah.” And too, we fit wait for the time when Jehovah go bring the “new heaven and new earth” wey e don promise. That time, God go remove all sin from our body. All servants of God go “dey happy and get joy forever” for wetin e de make and give.​—Isa. 65:17, 18.

Imagine how life go be: sickness no go dey and we go wake up every day strong. No matter which kind pain we de feel, that time, we no go remember the pain again. We dey sure say we “no go remember the old things again, and they no go come to heart again.” Resurrection go bring people together again. Plenty people go feel like the parents of the 12-year-old girl wey Jesus be resurrect.
