Continue to “Do the Things Wey E Talk”

“This one na my Son wey I love, e get my favor. Make wuna do the things wey e talk.”—MATT. 17:5.

SONG 54 “This Na the Road”

WETIN WE GO LEARN? *

1-2. (a) Wetin God command three apostles of Jesus make they do, and how they follow this one? (b) Wetin we go talk about for this article?

AFTER the Passover for the year 32 C.E., apostle Peter, James, and John see one wonderful vision. For one high mountain, maybe part of Mount Hermon, Jesus change for their front. Bible talk say: “E face start to de shine like sun. And e cloth start de shine like light.” (Matt. 17:1-4) For the ending part of the vision, the apostles hear God talk say: “This one na my Son wey I love, e get my favor. Make wuna do the things wey e talk.” (Matt. 17:5) The three apostles show-am for the way they live their life say, they listen to Jesus. E good make we follow their example.

2 For the article before this one, we learn say to listen to Jesus voice mean say we go stop to do some things. For this article, we go talk about two things wey Jesus talk say make we de do.

“MAKE WUNA PASS THROUGH THE SMALL GATE”

3. As e dey for Matthew 7:13, 14, wetin we suppose do?

3 Read Matthew 7:13, 14. Notice-am say Jesus talk about two different gate wey two different road dey inside. One of the road dey “big” and the other one dey “tight.” E no talk say third road dey. We must choose by ourself which road we go follow. This one na the number one important decision wey we go ever make for our life, because na only one of the road go take person go everlasting life.

4. How you go talk say the “big” road be like?

4 We need to always remember say the two road dey different. Plenty people de pass the “big” road because e dey easy to follow. The sad thing be say, plenty people choose to dey for that road and to do like other people wey dey the road. They no understand say na Satan de try to make people follow e road and na death dey the end of this road.—1 Cor. 6:9, 10; 1 John 5:19.

5. How some people don try to find the “tight” road and begin follow-am?

5 But the other road no “big.” Instead e “tight,” and Jesus talk say the people wey de pass this road no plenty. Why? Notice say for the next verse, Jesus warn e followers about lie-lie prophets. (Matt. 7:15) Some people talk say na thousands of religion dey and many of them de claim say them de teach the truth. Because plenty religion dey, many people don confuse or they don tire sotey they no even try to find the road to everlasting life. But e dey possible to see that road. Jesus talk say: “If wuna follow wetin I tell wuna, wuna really be my disciples, and wuna go know the truth, and the truth go free wuna.” (John 8:31, 32) Na better thing say you no follow plenty other people; instead you find the truth. You start to study Bible well so that you go learn wetin God want make we do, and you listen to the things wey Jesus teach. You learn plenty things. For example, you learn say Jehovah want make we reject the things wey lie-lie religion de teach. And make we stop to do celebrations wey come from lie-lie worship. You still see say to do wetin Jehovah want and to stop to do somethings wey e hate, fit no dey easy. (Matt. 10:34-36) E fit even be say e no dey easy for you to change the things wey you need to change for your life. But you no tire because you love your Papa for heaven and you want make e happy with you. True-true, e go don really dey happy for wetin you do!—Prov. 27:11.

WETIN FIT HELP US REMAIN FOR THE TIGHT ROAD?

Advice from God and e laws de help us remain for the “tight” road (Check paragraph 6-8) *

6. As e dey for Psalm 119:9, 10, 45, 133, wetin fit help us stay for the tight road?

6 When we don start to follow the tight road, wetin fit help us remain for the road? Think about this example. Some countries get small road ontop mountain, and them de build small fence for the side of the road to protect drivers. This one de help them make they no too near the side of the road, so that they no go fall from the mountain. Nobody go complain say the fence too de protect them. The laws wey Jehovah give us for Bible be like that fence. This laws de help us remain for the tight road.—Read Psalm 119:9, 10, 45, 133.

7. How young people suppose see the tight road?

7 Young people, wuna de feel sometimes say wuna no go fit do the things wey wuna want do, if wuna must obey the things wey Jehovah talk say make we do? Na wetin Satan want make you think be that. E go like make you de think about the things wey people for the big road de do, because e be like say they really de enjoy life. E want make you think say you no de enjoy life reach the way your classmates de enjoy-am, or the people wey you see for Internet. Satan want make you think say the laws wey Jehovah de give no de make you de enjoy life well. * But put this one for mind: Satan no want make people for e road see the thing wey de wait for them for the end of the road. But Jehovah don make you know the better life wey you go enjoy if you stay for the road to life.—Ps. 37:29; Isa. 35:5, 6; 65:21-23.

8. Wetin young people fit learn from the example of Olaf?

8 See wetin you fit learn from the example of one young brother wey e name na Olaf. * E classmates try to make-am put hand for things about sex. When e explain say Jehovah Witness people de follow the things wey Bible talk, some girls for e class come tell theirself say they must get Olaf, and they try to make-am sleep with them. But Olaf stand strong for the correct thing. And no be only this one be the problem wey e face. Olaf talk say: “My teachers try to make me believe say I suppose go university because na this one go make people respect me. They tell me say if I no go university, I no go fit succeed for life.” Wetin help Olaf make e no do wetin they want make e do? E talk say: “I do wetin go make me dey tight with brothers and sisters for congregation. They come be like my family. And I start to study Bible more. The more I de study deep, the more I come de believe say na the truth be this. Because of this one, I tell myself say I go serve Jehovah.”

9. Wetin the people wey want continue to remain for the tight road go need to do?

9 Satan go like to do wetin go make you comot from the road to life. E want make you join the plenty people for the big road wey “people wey they go destroy de pass.” (Matt. 7:13) But we go remain for the tight road, if we continue to listen to Jesus and to see that road as protection. Now, make we talk about another thing wey Jesus tell us make we do.

MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR BROTHER

10. As e dey for Matthew 5:23, 24, wetin Jesus talk say we suppose do?

10 Read Matthew 5:23, 24. For this verse, Jesus talk about one thing wey really dey important to the Jew people wey e de talk to. Just think-am say person for the temple don dey ready to give animal to one priest as sacrifice. If that time the person remember say e brother de vex for-am, e go leave the sacrifice and comot for there. Why? Wetin fit dey important pass to give sacrifice to Jehovah? Jesus talk-am clear say: “First make peace with your brother.”

You go do like Jacob wey humble e self and make peace with e brother? (Check paragraph 11-12) *

11. Wetin Jacob do to make peace with Esau?

11 When we check one thing wey happen to Jacob for Bible, we fit learn important lessons about to make peace. After about 20 years wey Jacob don comot from the land wey they born-am, God use angel command Jacob make e go back. (Gen. 31:11, 13, 38) But one problem dey. E senior brother wey be Esau, be want kill-am. (Gen. 27:41) Jacob “start to really fear and de worry” say e brother fit still de vex for-am. (Gen. 32:7) Wetin Jacob do to make peace with e brother? E first pray with all e heart to Jehovah about the matter. Then e send plenty gift go give Esau. (Gen. 32:9-15) And when Jacob see Esau, e show respect to Esau. No be one time or two times e bow down to Esau, but na seven times! Jacob show say e dey humble, and e show respect to e brother for the way e make peace with Esau.—Gen. 33:3, 4.

12. Wetin we learn from the example of Jacob?

12 We learn one thing from how Jacob prepare to meet e brother and the way e meet Esau. Jacob beg Jehovah for help to show say e dey humble. Then e show say e really mean wetin e beg Jehovah for, as e do e best to make peace with e brother. When the two of them meet, Jacob no argue with Esau about who dey right and who dey wrong. The thing wey Jacob get for mind na to make peace with e brother. How we fit do like Jacob?

HOW TO MAKE PEACE WITH PEOPLE

13-14. If we make our brother or sister vex, wetin we suppose do?

13 If we want continue for the road to life, we need to maintain the peace wey we get with our brothers and sisters. (Rom. 12:18) Wetin we suppose do when we see say we don make our brother vex? Just like Jacob, make we pray to Jehovah from our heart. We fit beg God make e bless wetin we de do to make peace with our brother.

14 We need to still take time check ourself. We fit ask ourself questions like this: ‘I dey ready to talk say I dey wrong, to humble myself beg, and make peace? How Jehovah and Jesus go feel if e come from my heart to go make peace with my brother or sister?’ Our answers fit move us to listen to Jesus and humble ourself go meet our brother or sister, so that we go make peace. Make we do like Jacob for this matter.

15. When we follow wetin dey Ephesians 4:2, 3, how this one fit help us make peace with our brother?

15 Wetin you think say for happen if Jacob no dey humble when e go meet e brother? Maybe the matter for no end well. When we go meet our brother to settle the problem wey we get with our brother, we must dey humble. (Read Ephesians 4:2, 3.) Proverbs 18:19 talk say: “Brother wey they make vex dey hard to handle pass strong city, and quarrel dey wey be like the rods for the gate of strong city.” When we humble ourself and beg the person, this one fit help the person dey ready to make peace with us.

16. Which other thing we need to think about, and why?

16 We still need to think well about wetin we want tell our brother and how we go talk-am. When we don ready to go meet the person wey de vex, our plan na to help the person make e stop to vex. For the beginning, the person fit talk things wey we no like. And this one fit make-am dey easy for us to vex, or try to prove say no be we cause the problem. But, that one go settle the matter well? No! That one no go bring peace. Remember say, to make peace with your brother dey important pass to look for who dey right and who dey wrong.—1 Cor. 6:7.

17. Wetin you fit learn from the example of Gilbert?

17 One brother wey e name na Gilbert work hard to be person wey de make peace. E talk say: “Before, I get plenty problems with one of my close family member. For more than two years, I do everything wey I fit do to talk well for calm way so that the relationship go straight again.” Which other thing Gilbert do? E talk say: “Before I talk with this my family member, I de pray and prepare my mind make I no vex if e talk anything for harsh way. I need to dey ready to forgive. I learn say I no suppose try to prove say I dey right, and say the work wey I get na to try make peace.” Which better things come out from this one? Gilbert talk say: “Today, I get peace of mind because of the better relationship wey I get with all my family members.”

18-19. If we don make person vex, wetin we suppose dey ready to do, and why?

18 So wetin you suppose dey ready to do when you see say you don make your Christian brother or sister vex? Do the thing wey Jesus tell you make you do to make peace. Talk to Jehovah about the matter, and trust say e holy spirit go help you to be person wey de make peace. If you do like that, you go dey happy, and you go show more-more say you de listen to Jesus.—Matt. 5:9.

19 We really like-am say Jehovah de use Jesus Christ wey be “head of the congregation,” to give us direction with love. (Eph. 5:23) Like apostle Peter, James, and John, make we tell ourself say we go de “do the things wey [Jesus] talk.” (Matt. 17:5) We don talk about how we fit do that one, and na when we de make peace with our brother or sister wey we don make vex. When we do like that and we remain for the tight road to life, we go get plenty blessings now; and for future, we go dey happy forever.

SONG 130 De Forgive

^ Jesus advice us make we pass the small gate wey the road to life dey. E still tell us say make we make peace with our brothers and sisters. ^ OTHER THINGS ABOUT THE PICTURE: Like the small wall wey de give protection for road wey dey ontop mountain, when we stay for the “tight” road, the laws from God go protect us make we no do things wey go put our life for danger, like to watch naked people picture or film, to hide get boy friend or girl friend, and to put university education first for our life because people want make we go.

^ OTHER THINGS ABOUT THE PICTURE: To make peace, Jacob bow down plenty times for Esau e brother.
