(2 Cor. 10:4) See the answer wey Paul give: “We de remove ideas and everything wey they raise to block people make they no know God. And we de catch every thinking as prisoner to make-am obey Christ.” (2 Cor. 10:5) True-true, when Jehovah help us we go fit remove any bad  idea from our mind. ⁴ You remember the time wey you first learn the truth for Bible and decide to serve Jehovah? Some things dey wey you change for your character that time, no be so? For many of us, we stop to do some kind bad things. (1 Cor. 6:9-11) We really thank Jehovah as e help us stop to do this bad things!

⁵ But, make we no begin feel say we don change finish. Before we baptize, na true say we stop to do serious sins. But we still need to do everything wey we fit do make anything no tempt us to commit those serious sin again. How we fit do that one? So all of us  need to ask ourself say, ‘The change wey I de make to be like Christ de only affect how people de see me for outside, or the change de really affect who I be for inside?’ The answer to this question dey important. The thing wey Jesus talk for Matthew 12:43-45 show us the thing wey we need to do. (Read-am.) The thing wey that verse talk teach us one important lesson. The lesson na: We no go just relax after we don remove bad idea from our mind; we need to replace them with things wey God like.

7. How we fit change the kind person wey we be for inside?

⁷ We go fit change the way we de think or who we really be for inside? Bible talk say: “Make the way wuna de think continue de change to new one, and make wuna wear the new character. Na God make-am the way e want, and the character agree with wetin really dey right and faithful.” (Eph. 4:23, 24) So, we fit change how we be for inside, but no be easy thing to do. Na true say we go de fight bad things wey our body want and we go stop to do bad things. But we need to do pass that one. We need to change ‘the way we de think.’ This one mean say we go change the kind things wey we want, our character, and the reason why we de do things. We go always de work hard for this one to happen.

8-9. How the experience of one brother help us see say na really important thing for us to change who we be for inside?

⁸ As example, make we talk about one brother. Before-before, the brother like fight and trouble, and e de over drink. But after, e stop this things and e baptize. This one make people praise Jehovah for the small community wey the brother de live. But small time after e baptize, one evening, e face test wey e no expect. One man come meet the brother for house to fight the brother, and the man don over drink sotey e de see double. Our brother no want fight the man before. But when the man talk bad about Jehovah, our new brother come vex sotey e no fit control e temper again. E go outside go beat the man. Why e do like that? Na true say Bible study don help the brother, so e no want fight before, even as body de push the brother to fight. But, the truth be say, e never fit change the way e de think. If we want talk-am for another way, we fit talk say the brother never change the person wey e really be for inside.

⁹ But, this brother continue to try so that e go change. (Prov. 24:16) Elders help this brother make e continue to do fine. As time de go, the brother become elder. Then something happen one evening for outside Kingdom Hall. The brother face the same kind of test wey e face before. One man be want beat one of the elders and this man don over drink sotey e de see double. Wetin our brother do? E reason with the man for gentle and humble way. The brother even help the man reach house. Wetin happen to our brother this time? E don change the way e de think. E don change the kind person wey e be for inside to be peacemaker and humble person. This one bring praise to Jehovah!

10. Wetin we must do so that we go fit change who we be for inside?

¹⁰ This change no de happen just like that when we no work hard. We fit need to really ‘try our best’ for many years. (2 Pet. 1:5) We no go fit change just because we don de serve Jehovah for long time. We need to do everything wey we fit do to change the person wey we be for inside. Some main things  dey wey we fit do to make this change. Make we talk about some of them.

11. How prayer de help us make we fit change the way we de think?

¹¹ The first important thing wey we need to do na to pray. We need to pray like the writer of Psalm 51:10: “Make me get clean heart, O God. Put new spirit for inside me, and make this one be faithful one.” We must agree say we need to change the way we de think and tell Jehovah make e help us. How we fit dey sure say Jehovah go help us to change who we be for inside? For time of Ezekiel, some Israel people dey stubborn. So Jehovah promise to do something for them. This promise fit encourage us. God talk say: “I go give them one heart. I go put new spirit inside them . . . and give them heart of flesh. [This kind heart dey ready to follow the things wey God talk].” (Ezek. 11:19; ftn.) Jehovah dey ready to help those Israel people make they change, and e dey ready to help us too.

As we de sofri read Bible everyday, we need to take time de think deep about the things wey we read and see wetin we need to change for how we de think and feel. (Read Psalm 119:59; Heb. 4:12; Jas. 1:25) We must notice any way wey the ideas of people for the world don affect how we de think and feel. We need to tell ourself the truth and gree say we dey weak for some ways. Then we go work hard to change-am.

¹⁴ The third important thing wey we need to do na to choose good friends. Whether we know or we no know, the people wey we de do things with de really affect us. (Prov. 13:20) For our workplace or for school, e fit be say the people around us no de help us make we think the way God like. But, for our Christian meeting we go see the best kind of friends wey we fit get. Na for there people fit move us, or make us, to show “love and do better work.”—Heb. 10:24, 25, ftn.

¹⁶ Satan never stop to ask the same question  wey e ask Eve for garden of Eden, say: “God really talk say . . . ?” (Gen. 3:1) For this world wey Satan de control, many times, we de hear some kind question them. This question them fit make us doubt the things wey we believe. For example: ‘God really no want make man marry man and make woman marry woman? God really no want make you celebrate Christmas and birthday? Na really true say your God no go like-am if you take blood? Since God na love, na really true say e no want make you do things with your person wey they disfellowship?’

17. When person ask question to make us doubt our belief, wetin we go do? And wetin fit be the result according to Colossians 2:6, 7?

¹⁷ We must dey sure about the things wey we believe. If we no find answer to important questions about the things wey we believe, we fit begin doubt whether them dey correct. ¹⁸ Nobody fit make your faith dey strong for you. So, make you continue to change the way you de think. Make you de always pray and beg Jehovah for holy spirit to help you.
