Obey the Sound of the Trumpet Today

Obey the Sound of the Trumpet Today

ALL of us believe say na Jehovah de direct e people, and e de give them the things wey they need to dey close to-am for this “last days.” (2 Tim. 3:1) So, e go good make each of us follow the direction wey Jehovah de give. We fit compare our situation with the people of Israel when them dey for wilderness. They need to do something when they hear the sound of the trumpet.

Jehovah tell Moses make e use silver make two trumpets ‘to gather the people together, and to tell the people when they go move their camps.’ (Num. 10:2) The priest them go blow the trumpet for different-different way to tell the people wetin they need to do. (Num. 10:3-8) Today, servants of Jehovah de receive direction for different-different way. For this article, we go talk about three of this ways and compare-am with the sound of trumpet for the time of Israel people. The three ways wey we go talk about na when we get invitation to attend or gather together for special programs, when they invite elders to receive training, and when our organization change some things wey affect all of us.

INVITATION TO GATHER TOGETHER FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS

When Jehovah want make “all the people” gather for the place wey them de pass enter the tabernacle for the east side, the priests them go blow the two trumpet. (Num. 10:3) All the tribes wey divide theirself for four camps around the tabernacle, go hear the sound. The people wey their camp dey near go come quick-quick. Other people go need more time to reach there. But no matter where them dey, the point be say Jehovah want make all of them gather and receive direction.

Today, we no de gather together for tabernacle, but we get the invitation to gather together with servants of God. We de gather together for conventions and other special programs, where we de receive important information and direction. For the whole world, servants of Jehovah de enjoy the same program. All the people wey accept the invitation and attend de enjoy to be part of the happy family or group. Some de really travel far to attend. Even with that one, the people wey attend no de ever regret-am.

But what of the small-small group wey dey far, or wey their situation no de allow them to join gather together for special programs? Them de benefit too? Technology don make-am easy for people like this to fit enjoy the same program and even feel like say they join gather together for the programs. For example, one time wey Governing Body send some brothers to go encourage our brothers and sisters for Benin branch, they connect the program to Arlit for Niger, one town wey dey Sahara Desert. Twenty-one brothers, sisters, and interested people gather. Even though say the place wey them dey far, they feel the love wey de make us dey as one with the 44,131 people wey gather. One brother write say: “I use all my heart thank wuna as wuna connect this program to reach us for here. This one don show us again say wuna really love us and wuna get us for mind.”

INVITATION FOR ELDERS TO RECEIVE MORE TRAINING

When the priest them for Israel blow just one trumpet, na “only the chiefs, the heads of the thousands,” go gather for the place wey them de pass enter the tent of meeting. (Num. 10:4) For there, they go receive some direction and training from Moses. The training de help them to know how they go do their work well for their tribes. If you be one of the chiefs that time, you no go do everything wey you fit do to gather and benefit?

Today, elders for congregation no be “chiefs”; and they no de do like say they be master of the sheep of God wey them de care for. (1 Pet. 5:1-3) But them de really do their best to be fine shepherd. That na why them de always ready to accept the invitation to come receive more training, like to attend the Kingdom Ministry School. For this school, elders de learn how they go fit de do more and handle their work for congregation well. This one de make the elders and brothers and sisters wey them de care for to near Jehovah more-more. Even if you never attend any of the school, you still de benefit because people wey attend de use wetin they learn to help the congregation.

WHEN SOME THINGS CHANGE

Sometimes, the priests for Israel de blow the horn for another way. The sound de high and e de low. This one na to announce to them say Jehovah want make all the people move their camp. (Num. 10:5, 6) The people de really organize theirself well when them de move their camps, but na serious hard work e be for all of them. Sometimes, some of them fit no want move. Why?

E fit be say some of them de feel say them de move every time, and for time wey they no even expect. Bible talk say: “Sometimes the cloud go dey only from evening till morning.” Other times, them de stay “two days, one month,” or e fit even pass before they move. (Num. 9:21, 22) And how many times they move their camps? Numbers chapter 33 mention about 40 place wey the people of Israel camp.

Sometimes, they fit don camp for the place wey get shade. And this kind place wey get shade na just the best place for that kind big wilderness wey de make people fear. (Deut. 1:19) So they fit de think say if they move, they fit stop for place wey no better reach this one.

When the tribes start to move, e fit no dey easy for some people to wait until e reach their turn. Na all of them hear the sound from the trumpet wey de high and de low, but no be all of them fit move for the same time. That sound na signal say the three tribes wey their camp dey east side go move. Their name na Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. (Num. 2:3-7; 10:5, 6) After they don move, the priest them go blow the trumpet second time to signal the three tribes wey their camp dey for south to move. The priest them go continue like that until the whole camp go move finish.

E fit be say e no easy for you to accept some of the change wey happen for the organization. Why? Maybe you feel say the change too much, and they come for time wey you no expect. Or maybe you like as things be before and you want make e continue like that. No matter your reason, e go don hard you to dey patient as you de try to accept the change, and e take time for you to follow-am. But, if we try our best to obey as we suppose to, we go see say the change good for us and Jehovah go bless us.

For the time of Moses, Jehovah guide millions of men, women, and children pass through the wilderness. If Jehovah no direct and care for them, they for no survive. Today, we de survive for this wicked last days because Jehovah de guide, direct and care for us. E de help us to dey close to-am and make our faith strong. So, e dey important make we do everything wey we fit do to obey the loud sound of the trumpet just like the people of Israel!
