You Dey Ready to Always De Make Change?
“And the last thing brothers na say, make wuna continue to dey happy, de make change for wuna life.”—2 COR. 13:11.
SONG 54 “This Na the Road”
WETIN WE GO LEARN? *
1. As e dey for Matthew 7:13, 14, why we fit talk say we dey for journey?
ALL of us be like people wey de travel. The thing wey we get for mind as we dey this journey, na to enter the new world wey Jehovah go rule with love. Everyday, we de try to follow the road wey go take us go Paradise. But as Jesus talk, that road dey tight, and sometimes, e no dey easy to waka for the road. (Read Matthew 7:13, 14.) Because we no dey perfect, e dey easy for us to leave this road.—Gal. 6:1.
2. Wetin we go talk about for this article? (Still check the box “ When We Dey Humble E Go Help Us De Make Change.”)
2 If we want remain for the tight road wey go take us go Paradise, we must dey ready to change how we de think, the things wey we like and things wey we no like, and how we de do things. Apostle Paul encourage Christians for Corinth make they continue to “make change” for their life. (2 Cor. 13:11) That advice still concern us today. For this article, we go talk about how Bible fit help us de change some things for our life, and how brothers and sisters with good example fit help us continue for the road to life. We go still talk about when e fit hard us to do the things wey Jehovah’s organization talk say make we do. We go learn say when we dey humble, this one go fit help us continue to get joy as we de serve Jehovah even when we make change for our life.
MAKE YOU ALLOW BIBLE CORRECT YOU
3. How Bible fit help you?
3 E no de always easy for us to check how we de think and how we de feel. Why? Na because our heart fit deceive us, and this one fit make-am hard us to know wetin the heart go fit make us do. (Jer. 17:9) E dey easy to deceive ourself with the way we de think. (Jas. 1:22) So we must use Bible to check ourself. Bible de show us the way we really de think and the kind plan wey we get inside our heart. (Heb. 4:12, 13) We go fit talk say, Bible de work like X-ray machine wey doctor de use see wetin dey inside person body. Like this machine, Bible go fit help us see the kind person wey we really be for inside. If we want gain from the advice wey Bible or the people wey Jehovah de use direct us de give, we must dey humble.
4. Wetin show say King Saul turn to proud person?
4 The example of King Saul show us wetin fit happen when we no dey humble. Saul really dey proud sotey e no gree tell e self say e need to change the way e de think and do things. (Ps. 36:1, 2; Hab. 2:4) This character wey Saul get show when Jehovah tell Saul wetin e go do after e don win Amalek people for war. But Saul no obey Jehovah. And when prophet Samuel talk to Saul about wetin e do, e no gree say e don make mistake. Instead, e talk say the thing wey e do no too serious and e begin blame other people. (1 Sam. 15:13-24) Saul don do something like this before. (1 Sam. 13:10-14) The bad thing be say, e allow e self to begin dey proud for heart. E no change the way e de think, so Jehovah condemn wetin e do and reject-am.
5. Wetin we fit learn from the example of Saul?
5 If we want learn from the example of Saul, e good make we ask ourself this questions: ‘When I read something for Bible wey affect me, I de find excuse wey go make me no change the way I de think? I de think say wetin I de do no too bad? I de blame other people for wetin I do?’ If we answer yes to any of this questions, we must change the way we de think. If we no change, we fit start to dey proud for heart sotey Jehovah go stop to be our friend.—Jas. 4:6.
6. Wetin make King David dey different from King Saul?
6 Notice wetin make King David dey different from King Saul. David na person wey love “the law of Jehovah.” (Ps. 1:1-3) David know say Jehovah de save people wey dey humble but e no de support people wey dey proud. (2 Sam. 22:28) So David allow the law of God to change the way e de think. E write say: “I go praise Jehovah, the one wey don give me advice. Even for night, wetin I de think correct me.”—Ps. 16:7.
7. Wetin we go do if we dey humble?
7 If we dey humble, we go allow make Bible correct the bad way wey we de think before we do the bad thing. Bible go be like voice wey de tell us say: “This na the road. Follow-am.” E go warn us if we don de comot from the correct road, de go left or de go right. (Isa. 30:21) When we de listen to Jehovah, we go gain for plenty way. (Isa. 48:17) For example, we no go get the shame wey we for get if na another person correct us. And we go near Jehovah because we know say e de treat us like pikin wey e love.—Heb. 12:7.
8. As e dey for James 1:22-25, how Bible fit be like mirror for us?
8 Bible fit be like mirror for us. (Read James 1:22-25.) Many of us de look mirror every morning before we comot for house. This one go help us see whether we need to change anything before other people see us. For the same way, when we de read Bible everyday, we go fit see things wey we need to change for the way we de think. Plenty people don see say e good for them to read daily text every morning before they comot for house. Them de allow the thing wey they read for daily text to touch the way them de think. Then, they go look for ways to follow the advice from Bible as the day de go. Apart from that one, we must study Bible and think deep about wetin we de read for Bible everyday. This one fit be like normal thing, but na one of the things wey dey important pass and wey we need to do, so that we go remain for the tight road to Paradise.
LISTEN TO BROTHERS AND SISTERS WITH GOOD EXAMPLE
9. Which time you think say your friend go need to correct you?
9 You don ever start to do something wey go spoil your friendship with Jehovah? (Ps. 73:2, 3) When person with good example for congregation gather heart to correct you, you listen to the person and follow e advice? If na so, na the correct thing you do, and you go don really dey happy say your friend warn you.—Prov. 1:5.
10. Wetin you suppose do if your friend correct you?
10 Bible tell us say: “Better friend de give correction even when person fit no like-am.” (Prov. 27:6) Wetin this Bible verse mean? Make we see this example: Think-am say you want cross one road wey plenty motor de pass. But you check your phone wey de ring. Then you start to cross, but you no look the road. But as you want enter road, your friend just hold your hand tight and drag you come back. The way e hold your hand really dey tight sotey you get wound for hand. But because e quick hold your hand, this one save your life as motor no jam you. Even if the wound still de pain you after some days, you go vex for your friend because of the way e drag you? No, you no go do like that! You go thank your friend as e help you. For the same way, if your friend warn you say Bible condemn the thing wey you talk and the things wey you de do, this one fit pain you first. But make you no vex or reject the advice. That kind thing no go make sense. (Eccl. 7:9) Instead, make you dey happy say your friend get the heart to tell you that kind thing.
11. Wetin fit make person reject good advice from e friend?
11 Wetin fit make person reject good advice from better friend? Na when the person dey proud. Proud people de like to hear “wetin go sweet them for ear.” They no de “like to listen to truth.” (2 Tim. 4:3, 4) Them de feel say they no need advice because they think say they better pass other people. But apostle Paul write for Bible say: “If person think say e be something when e no be anything, e de deceive e self.” (Gal. 6:3) King Solomon explain-am well when e talk say: “Pikin wey poor but e get sense better pass old king wey no get sense. This kind king no de hear warning again.”—Eccl. 4:13.
12. As e dey for Galatians 2:11-14, wetin the example of apostle Peter teach us?
12 Think about wetin apostle Peter do when apostle Paul correct-am for public. (Read Galatians 2:11-14.) Peter for don vex for wetin Paul talk because of the way e talk-am and where e talk-am. But Peter get sense. E accept the advice, e no keep the matter for mind and start to vex for Paul. Instead of that one, Peter talk after say Paul na “brother wey [e] love.”—2 Pet. 3:15.
13. Wetin and wetin we go need to get for mind when we de advice person?
13 If you ever feel say you need to advice your friend, wetin you need to get for mind? Before you talk to your friend, ask yourself say, ‘I de think say na me “holy pass”?’ (Eccl. 7:16) Person wey de think like that de judge other people with the thing wey e think say dey right, instead of wetin Jehovah think. And the truth be say, the person fit no de show pity. If after you don sofri think about why you want give your friend advice, you fit still see say e dey important make you advice-am. If na so, tell-am wetin the problem be, and use question to help-am understand why the thing wey e do no good. Make sure say the advice wey you give-am come from Bible, no forget say na Jehovah get the right to judge, no be you. (Rom. 14:10) Use the sense from Bible when you de advice person, and copy the example of Jesus to get pity. (Prov. 3:5; Matt. 12:20) Why? Na because Jehovah go treat us for the same way we treat other people.—Jas. 2:13.
FOLLOW THE DIRECTION WEY JEHOVAH’S ORGANIZATION DE GIVE
14. Which things Jehovah’s organization de provide for us?
14 Jehovah de use e organization guide us for the road to Paradise. And e organization de provide videos, different-different books and magazines, and meetings, to help us so that we go fit de follow the advice wey dey inside Bible. We go fit trust this things because all of them na from Bible. When Governing Body want decide the best way to do the preaching work, them de always beg God for e holy spirit. Even with that one, Governing Body de always check the decisions wey they make about the preaching work to see whether they fit change some things to make-am better. Why? Na because “the way things be for this world de change.” And so Jehovah’s organization need to change some things too.—1 Cor. 7:31.
15. Wetin some publishers don face?
15 Jehovah’s organization de give new explanation about some Bible teaching, and them de give us direction about how to follow wetin Bible talk. But, wetin we de do when Jehovah’s organization change some things wey affect our life? For example, for some time now, the money wey we de use build and maintain the buildings where we de worship Jehovah don really high. So Governing Body give direction say make different-different congregation wey fit use the same Kingdom Hall, de use-am. And because of this change, some small congregations don join with other congregations. This one don make us sell some Kingdom Hall. And we de use the money build Kingdom Halls for brothers and sisters for the
area wey they need-am pass. If you de live for the area wey them de join congregations together and sell Kingdom Halls, e fit no easy for you to accept the change for beginning. Now, the place wey some publishers de attend their meeting no too near like before. Some other publishers wey follow work hard to build or maintain the Kingdom Hall fit de wonder why they want sell-am. They fit de feel say, the time and power wey they put for the Kingdom Hall don waste. But even with all this one, they still de support the arrangement. So we really need to thank them.16. When we follow the advice for Colossians 3:23, 24, how this one go help us continue to get joy?
16 We go continue to get joy when we remember say na Jehovah we de work for, and say na e de direct the organization. (Read Colossians 3:23, 24.) King David show better example when e contribute money to build the temple. E talk say: “Who be me and who be my people so that we go fit make offering to you from our heart? Na you get everything, and wetin we give you, na from your hand e come.” (1 Chron. 29:14) When we contribute money, we still de give Jehovah wetin e don give us. Even with that one, Jehovah value the time, power, money and other things wey we de contribute to support the work wey e want make we do.—2 Cor. 9:7.
STAY FOR THE TIGHT ROAD
17. Why you no need to dey sad if you need to make some change?
17 If we want stay for the tight road to Paradise, all of us must follow Jesus example. (1 Pet. 2:21) Even if e be like say you go need to make some change, make you no allow this one make you sad. This one fit even be sign to show say you really want follow the direction wey Jehovah de give. Remember say Jehovah know say we no dey perfect, and e no de expect us to dey perfect like Jesus.
18. Wetin we need to do if we want complete our journey?
18 E good make all of us put mind for future and dey ready to change the way we de think, the things wey we like and the things wey we no like, and the way we de do things. (Prov. 4:25; Luke 9:62) Make we continue to dey humble, and “continue to dey happy, de make change.” (2 Cor. 13:11) If we do like that, “the God of love and peace go dey with [us].” We no go only reach the place wey we de go, but we go still enjoy the journey.
SONG 34 Hold Jehovah Tight
^ par. 5 E fit be say e de hard some of us to change the way we de think, the things wey we like and things wey we no like, and the way we de do things. This article go explain why all of us need to change some things for our life and how we fit continue to get joy as we de do-am.
^ par. 76 OTHER THINGS ABOUT THE PICTURE: As the young brother de explain wetin e face after e decide to do wetin no good, the old brother (wey dey the right side) sofri de listen to see whether e go need to give-am some advice.
