THE truth be say, Jehovah Witness people na happy people. When them dey together, whether na for meeting, assembly, or small party, them de talk and laugh with each other. Wetin de make them glad? The main reason be say, they know Jehovah, them de serve Jehovah, and them de try to imitate Jehovah, “the happy God.” (1 Tim. 1:11; Ps. 16:11) Glad-heart come from Jehovah. So he want make we dey happy, and he give us plenty things to make us dey happy.​—Deut. 12:7; Eccl. 3:12, 13.

² What of you? You dey happy? You fit dey happy pass before? If person dey happy, e mean say the person de feel good, he dey ok with his life, or he de glad well-well for his heart. ³ Some things fit make person no dey happy again. For example, they fit disfellowship our person, or our person die, marriage fit scatter, or we no get work again. When fight-fight dey  house peace no go dey, and this one fit make person no get joy. Our workmate or classmate fit de laugh us, people fit de suffer us, or they put us for prison because we de serve Jehovah. All this one fit make-am hard for us to dey happy. Even old age, or serious sickness fit make us stop to get joy. But Jesus Christ, “the happy and only King wey he get complete power,” really like to comfort people and make them dey happy. (1 Tim. 6:15; Matt. 11:28-30) For the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talk about some fine-fine character wey they fit make us dey happy, even with the problem wey we de face for Satan’s world.

4, 5. How we fit dey happy, and continue to dey happy?

⁴ The first thing wey Jesus talk about really dey important. He talk say: “People wey them de show say they need God for their life dey happy because the Kingdom for heaven na their own.” (Matt. 5:3) How we fit show say we need God for our life? Na when we de study Bible, de do the things wey God want, and we put his worship as number one thing for our life. If we do this things, we go dey happy more. Our faith go strong more-more for the things wey God promise say they go happen for future. And “the happy hope” wey Bible talk about say we go get, go make us strong.​—Titus 2:13.

⁵ If we want dey happy no matter wetin happen, our friendship with God go dey strong. Apostle Paul write for Bible say: “Always de glad because of the Lord [Jehovah]. I go talk again say, De glad!” (Phil. 4:4) We need to get the sense wey God de give so that our friendship go dey tight. Bible talk say: “Person wey he don get sense go de glad, and even person wey he don get deep sense. Na tree of life for people wey they get-am. 6. Wetin we must do if we want continue to dey happy?

For this “last days,” things “really hard to handle.” (2 Tim. 3:1) So even wicked people fit dey sad because of the way things be. But wicked people de think only about theirself. This people no dey happy because many people no de do wetin God like and they no want God. This people wey Jesus talk about know say sin dey for their own  body, and them de see the plenty bad things wey sin don cause. Na this condition make them dey sad. Jehovah de see this people wey they really dey sad. So he de use Bible comfort them, he de make them dey happy, and they go get everlasting life.​—Read Ezekiel 5:11; 9:4.

8. Explain how person fit dey happy when he dey humble?

⁸ “Humble people go dey happy, because God go give them the earth.” (Matt. 5:5) How you fit dey happy when you dey humble? People de change when they learn the truth for Bible. E fit be say before, them dey harsh, they like to quarrel, and fight. But after, they wear “the new character like cloth.” Now them de show “love and pity, get good-heart, dey humble, dey gentle, and dey patient.” (Col. 3:9-12) Because of this one, they get peace, them de enjoy good friendship with people, and their life de sweet them. ⁹ When Jesus talk say “God go give” humble people “the earth,” wetin he mean? God go give the earth to the people wey he don choose with his spirit when they go rule the earth as king and priest. (Rev. 20:6) But, for plenty other people wey they no de go heaven, God go give them the earth when he go allow them live for this earth forever. That time, they no go get sin for body, peace go dey, and everybody go dey happy. Jesus talk say: “People wey them de hungry and dey thirsty to do wetin God want go dey happy.” (Matt. 5:6) For this verse, Jesus still de talk about people wey them de go heaven and people wey they go live for this earth. For the new world, they go get everything wey they need to quench their hunger and their thirst to do wetin God want. (2 Pet. 3:13) God go remove all wickedness. So, righteous people go always dey happy because wicked people and bad things no go dey again.​—Ps. 37:17.

10. Wetin e mean to show pity?

¹⁰ Jesus talk say: “People wey them de show pity go dey happy, because they go show them pity.” (Matt. 5:7) Person wey he de show pity de treat other people with care, he de sorry for people, and want help them when them de suffer. To show pity for person no be just to sorry for person. For Bible, person wey he de show pity go do something to help other people.

11. Wetin we fit learn from the story about the good Samaritan?

¹¹ Read Luke 10:30-37. The story about the good Samaritan wey Jesus talk about, help us know wetin e really mean to pity for person. When the Samaritan see the man wey he need help, he pity for the man and he do something to help the man. After Jesus talk the story finish, he talk say: “Go, and make you de do the same thing.” So, we fit ask ourself say: ‘I de do the same thing? I de show pity like the good Samaritan? I fit do more to show pity and help people wey them de suffer? For example, I fit do something to help old brothers and sisters, sisters wey their husband die, and children wey their papa or mama no de serve Jehovah? Wetin I fit do to “encourage people wey they no dey happy”?’​—1 Thess. 5:14; Jas. 1:27.

12. When we de show pity for people, how that one go fit make us dey happy?

¹² But, how we fit dey happy when we de show pity? We de give people things when we de show pity. And when we de give, we go dey happy as Bible talk. Apart from that one, we know say we de do the thing  wey Jehovah like. (Acts 20:35; read Hebrews 13:16.) King David talk something about person wey he de show pity. He talk say: “Jehovah go protect the person and he go save his life. ¹³ Jesus talk say: “People wey their heart pure go dey happy, because they go see God.” (Matt. 5:8) If we want make our heart dey pure, we must make sure say the things wey we de think and the things wey we like dey clean. Our mind must dey clean if we want make Jehovah accept our worship.​—Read 2 Corinthians 4:2; 1 Tim. 1:5.

¹⁴ People wey their heart dey pure go fit enjoy better friendship with Jehovah, because he talk say: “People wey they wash their clothes go dey happy.” (Rev. 22:14) Wetin e mean for them to “wash their clothes”? For people wey Jehovah choose with his spirit, e mean say Jehovah de see them as clean people and he go give them life wey person no fit destroy. And they go enjoy life for heaven forever. For the great crowd wey they get hope to stay for this earth, e mean say they fit still enjoy better friendship with God because he see them as righteous people. But even now, Bible talk say them de ‘wash their clothes and de make-am white with the blood of the Lamb.’​—Rev. 7:9, 13, 14.

15, 16. How people wey their heart dey pure fit “see God”?

¹⁵ But how people wey their heart dey pure go fit “see God” when Bible talk say “nobody fit see [God] and still dey alive”? (Ex. 33:20) The Greek word wey they translate as “see” fit mean “to see something with your mind, to understand something, or know something.” So people wey them de see God with ‘the eye of their heart’ na people wey they don really know God and they like his fine-fine character. So we still de “see God” when we put the ‘eye of our heart’ for this things wey God don promise. And people wey they go rule with Jesus for heaven go see  God with their naked eye when God resurrect them go heaven.​—1 John 3:2.

17. Why people wey them de make peace go dey happy?

¹⁷ Jesus still talk say: “People wey them de make peace go dey happy.” (Matt. 5:9) We fit dey happy when e come from our heart to first go make peace with person. The disciple wey his name na James talk say: “People wey them de make peace de plant the fruit of wetin dey righteous for condition wey peace dey.” (Jas. 3:18) When we get problem with person for congregation or for family, we fit beg God make he help us to make peace. Then Jehovah go give you his spirit. Holy spirit go help you get fine-fine character, and you go dey happy. Jesus talk say e dey important make e come from our heart to first go make peace. He say: “Then, if you de carry your gift come altar and you remember for there say your brother de vex for you, leave your gift there for front of the altar, then make you go. First make peace with your brother, then come back and give your gift.”​—Matt. 5:23, 24.

18, 19. Why we fit de glad even if them de suffer us?

¹⁸ Jesus talk say: “Make wuna dey happy when people curse and suffer wuna, when they lie and talk different kind of wicked things about wuna because of me.” Wetin Jesus mean? He still talk say: “Dey happy and de over-glad, because wuna get plenty blessing for heaven. Na so they suffer the prophets before wuna.” (Matt. 5:11, 12) When they beat the apostles and tell them make they stop to preach, “they comot for the place wey the Sanhedrin dey. And them de glad.” No be say they enjoy the beating. But, them dey happy “because God give them the chance to suffer for the name of Jesus.”​—Acts 5:41.

¹⁹ For our time, Jehovah’s people de suffer too because of the name of Jesus or when they face problem. But them de endure and still dey happy. (Read James 1:2-4.) Like the apostles, we no get any kind of suffer wey we de enjoy. But if we continue to do the right thing when we de suffer, Jehovah go give us strong heart to fit endure. For example, government send Brother Henryk Dornik and his brother go concentration camp for August 1944. But the people wey them de suffer our brothers talk say: “E no dey possible to make them change their mind for something. Them dey happy to die for the thing wey they believe.” Brother Dornik talk say: “No be say I like to die for wetin I believe. But the strong heart and respect wey I get as I de suffer because I hold Jehovah tight, na e give me joy. . . . I de always pray to Jehovah. The prayer help me near Jehovah more-more, and he really help me when I need help.”

20. Why e de sweet us to serve “the happy God”?

²⁰ When Jehovah, “the happy God,” de glad with us, we fit dey happy even with sickness, old age, problem from our family people, or we de suffer because of wetin we believe. (1 Tim. 1:11) And we dey happy because of the fine-fine things wey our God promise us. Our God “no fit lie!” (Titus 1:2) When Jehovah don do all the things wey he promise us, we no go even remember the problem and things wey we don suffer. We no go fit imagine the kind better things wey Jehovah go use bless us for Paradise. And we go get the kind joy wey we never ever get before. True-true, we “go happy well-well because peace go dey everywhere.”​—Ps. 37:11.
