To De Overlook Things—How Bible Fit Help

To De Overlook Things—How Bible Fit Help

‘To de overlook things na one better character wey fit make peace dey.’—UNESCO Declaration of Principles on Tolerance, 1995.

But when person no sabi overlook things, e fit make-am hate other people and no de show respect. And when this kind feeling dey person mind, e fit make-am start to de talk bad-bad word, de fight-fight, and de select who e go de do things with.

But wetin many people think about to de overlook things dey different. Some believe say to de overlook things mean say person must accept anything wey other people believe and wetin them de do. Other people agree with wetin Bible talk for this matter. Them believe say people wey de overlook things, de respect the right wey other people get to choose wetin them believe and how them go de do things, even if them no agree with-am.

Bible fit really help people to sabi overlook things for this our time?

The thing wey Bible talk about to de overlook things

Bible de encourage us to de overlook things. E talk say: “Make everybody know una as people wey de use sense do things.” (Philippians 4:5) Bible encourage us to de respect people, de treat them well, and no de do partial. People wey de follow this advice fit no agree with wetin other people believe or them fit no behave the way them de behave, but them de allow people behave for way wey them choose.

But Bible show us how God want make we de behave. E talk say: “[God] don tell you wetin good.” (Micah 6:8) E show the advice wey God don give people to help them enjoy the best life.—Isaiah 48:17, 18.

God no give us the right to de judge other people. As Bible talk, “Na only God be Person Wey De Give Law and Judge . . . Who you be wey you de judge another person?” (James 4:12) God de allow each of us to use our freedom choose wetin we want since na we go answer for-am.—Deuteronomy 30:19.

Wetin Bible talk about respect?

Bible talk say make we ‘get respect for everybody.’ (1 Peter 2:17, New Jerusalem Bible) So people wey choose to follow wetin Bible talk de respect everybody no matter wetin them believe or how them choose to live their life. (Luke 6:31) This one no mean say people wey choose to follow wetin Bible talk go agree with everything wey people believe, or wetin them de think. And e no still mean say them go support everything wey other people decide. But them de try their best to copy the way Jesus treat other people, instead of them to treat people for bad way or no respect them.

For example, Jesus meet one woman wey dey religion wey e no agree with. This woman even still de live with man wey no be im husband, and Jesus no like this kind thing at all. But e still talk to the woman with respect.—John 4:9, 17-24.

Like Jesus, Christians dey ready to explain the things wey them believe to people wey really ready to listen. But them de do-am with “deep respect.” (1 Peter 3:15) Bible tell Christians make them no force other people to believe the things wey them believe. E talk say person wey de follow Christ “no need to fight. But make e dey gentle with everybody,” even people wey no believe wetin e believe.—2 Timothy 2:24.

Wetin Bible talk about to hate person

Bible talk say: “De try make you get peace with everybody.” (Hebrews 12:14) Person wey de try to make peace no de hate people. Even though say e no go do anything wey no agree with wetin e believe, e de try e best to get peace with everybody. (Matthew 5:9) In fact, Bible still encourage Christians say make them love their enemies, and make them dey kind to people wey de treat them for bad way.—Matthew 5:44.

Na true say Bible talk say God “hate,” or “really hate,” when people de do bad things or things wey fit cause problem for other people. (Proverbs 6:16-19) But for here, Bible use the word “hate” take describe the strong feeling wey God de get wey show say e no like bad things. Bible show say God dey ready to forgive and help people change their life so that them go fit de do wetin e want.—Isaiah 55:7.

Bible verses wey talk about respect and to de overlook things

Titus 3:2: “But make them de use sense do things with other people (footnote), de always show say them dey gentle with everybody.”

Person wey de use sense do things with people de answer people wey get different idea for gentle way, and e de make respect dey among people.
