OWESIFAZANE waseSamariya usemthonjeni. Ingabe lowomshwana awukukhumbuzi ukulandisa okuthinta inhliziyo kokufakaza ngokwethukela kukaJesu kowesifazane ‘emthonjeni kaJakobe’ eSikhari, umuzi waseSamariya? Ingabe ungathanda ukuthuthukisa umbono wakho ngalesosenzakalo esibalulekile?—Johane 4:5-14.

Impendulo ingase ikusize ukuba uqonde ingxoxo kaJesu nowesifazane waseSamariya. Uyabona, ukukhulekela kweqiniso okwakulandelwa uAbrahama, uJakobe, noJoshuwa akuzange kuqhubeke lapha eSamariya.

Ngemva kokuba izizwe eziyishumi zasenyakatho zizehlukanisile, zaphendukela ekukhulekeleni ithole. Ngakho uJehova wavumela ama-Asiriya ukuba ayinqobe lendawo ngo-740 B.C.E. Ahamba nabantu abiningi, aletha abantu ababezothatha indawo bevela kwenye indawo eMbusweni waseAsiriya, abakhulekeli bonkulunkulu abangaziwa. Ekukhulekeleni kwawo ikuyingxubvange, amaSamariya amukela kuphela izincwadi Ezinhlanu zokuqala zikaMose, okuthiwa yiPentateuch, njengeziwumBhalo. Cishe ngekhulu lesine leminyaka B.C.E., enza ithempeli phezu kweNtaba iGerizimu, encintisana nethempeli likaNkulunkulu eliseJerusalema. Ngokuhamba kwesikhathi ithempeli laseGerizimu lanikezelwa kuZeus (noma, uJupiter) futhi ekugcineni labhujiswa. Nokho, iGerizumu yaqhubeka iyisikhungo sokukhulekela saseSamariya.

Kuze kube namuhla, amaSamariya agubha iPhasika laminyaka yonke eGerizimu. Kuhlatshwa amawundlu amaningana. Izidumbu zawo zifakwa emigqonyeni yamanzi abilayo ukuze uvolo uzisukele, bese kuphekwa inyama emigodini amahora amaningi. Phakathi kwamabili amakhulu amaSamariya, amaningi avela eJerusalema, adla ukudla kwephasika. Ngakwesobunxele, ungambona umpristi omkhulu waseSamariya, ikhanda lakhe limboziwe, ekhonza njengompristi emkhosini wePhasika eNtabeni iGerizimu.

Khumbulu lokho owesifazane waseSamariya akutshela uJesu: “Okhokho bethu babekhulekela kulentaba.” UJesu wanikeza yena kanye nathi incazelo eqondile: “Isikhathi siyeza, lapho ningasayikukhuleka kuBaba nakulentaba naseJerusalema . . . Kodwa isikhathi siyeza, sesikhona namanje, lapho abakhulekayo abaqinisileyo beyakukhuleka kuBaba ngomoya nangeqiniso; ngokuba uBaba ufuna abakhuleka kuye abanjalo. UNkulunkulu unguMoya; abakhuleka kuye bafanele ukukhuleka ngomoya nangeqiniso.”—Johane 4:20-24.
